Romeo Is A Dead Man (2026) - Trailer

Time Stamped to Suda51 Interview - State of Play

I've been a Suda and Grasshopper fan since No More Heroes 1. I knew about Killer7, but really didn't play it. I did watch early YouTube LPs from Chip Cheezium and a few others uploading gameplay and cut-scenes. Romeo is looking to be a spiritual successor that lands on the No More Heroes end and Killer Is Dead. I am all hyped and excited for this! I am hoping this game either comes out in February of 2026, or March at the latest. Seriously, we are in heaven with all of these new action and stylish action games coming out either this year, next year, and so on.

You do what is necessary Suda. Add this to list of another reason why I can't stand the GTA franchise anymore.

More great news. Suda51 want nothing to do with generative AI. Which makes sense given, he has written stories about this, or people in high positions using AI and false narratives to control the masses.

Last Suda game I played was Shadows of the Damned. I doubt my PC could run this one but if it could I would give it a go. ::winkfelix

Definitely got my eyes on this one. Was hoping there was a physical edition announced or a date given but looks like its releasing digital only currently. Does look fun and has Killer is Dead vibes. Would eventually like to grab this one.

Suda 51 is one of my favorites. Ive loved Lollipop Chainsaw and Shadows of the Damned so much. He put out a Xbox 360 only game called Diabolical Pitch which was a kinect game....hilarious and underrated.

I'm cautious on this one. I love all four No More Heroes games, but I kinda hate Lollipop Chainsaw & Killer Is Dead. I haven't played Killer 7 or Shadows of the Damned, though. I don't think he had that much to do with it overall, but I also really didn't like Hotel Barcelona. I'll reserve judgment for when it releases, but Suda has been a bit hit or miss for me.

Hotel Barcelona.
Suda nor Grasshopper had much to do with that one, outside of promoting the game a few times.

Shadows of the Damned
It's a really fun arcade style third person shooter. It doesn't revolutionize anything, but it's really fun,and I recommend just getting the Remastered edition. It comes with extra costumes and new game plus.

kinda hate Lollipop Chainsaw & Killer Is Dead.
I'm almost the opposite. KID is still the best Grasshopper game with the best combat. LC i liked at the time but it definitely doesn't hold up well even when you take Repop out of the equation. Grasshopper had nothing to do with that either on Repop.

I didn't like TSA.

This looks great, keeping an eye on this. I skipped NMH3 and Travis Strikes Back, I'm not really sure why since I love the original and it's sequel. I think killer7 is a bit overrated but I still love it for what it is, very experimental. Killer is Dead was fantastic to me.

I admire Grasshopper for doing what they want, always.

I played Hotel Barcelona too and I thought it was mid. did Suda had a hand in it too? I thought it was just SWERY. Shadows of the Damned on the other hand I found pretty solid and funny cuz of Garcia and Johnson. The Voice Cast were great.::winkfelix

Hotel Barcelona was marketed as if it were an equal partnership between Swery & Suda, but I'm pretty sure Suda had minimal involvement in the actual game. I don't know to what extent exactly, maybe he came up with ideas or designs, but I'm pretty sure it's mostly Swery & his team who made the game

It's disappointing there isn't a physical version at launch. I'm assuming LRG will do one at a later date like with the Shadows of the Damned and Lollipop Chainsaw remasters, as well as the Switch versions of NMH1 & 2. I might wait for a physical version...

I'll be keeping an eye on this one. Looks like it could be good.

Kinda Funny Games has a wonderful surprise. A one hour live stream of the game with Suda51 himself!

Same, Shadows of the Damned, Lollipop Chainsaw and Killer is Dead are all p mediocre imo. Killer7 is really good, but after NMH, Grasshopper has been basically focusing solely on the "silly wacky" part of their games and I doubt they will ever return to the more serious/deeper themes that their earlier games had like Killer7. Can't blame then though, as NMH is what made then famous after all. But hey, this one looks like a better version of NMH3, so it will at least be fun.

Not really. I'll defend Shadows and KiD at least. LC I liked at the time, but you couldn't get me to go through that game again. At least Shadows got a proper remaster with new game plus, and extra bonus costumes.

Not necessarily, and Travis Strikes Again has serious and deep moments despite being really wacky in the beginning. Though I did not like the gameplay in that game. Also, Suda had nothing to do with KiD, nor LC, outside of promoting them a couple of times. He wasn't even in the director's chair for those, nor NMH2. That said, you're never gonna get another game like K7 ever again, and that is okay. Suda and Grasshopper still respect what got them here in the first place. I rather they be making games with their own creative vision, than none at all.

But hey, this one looks like a better version of NMH3, so it will at least be fun.
Funny you say that, as NMH3 combat took a few elements from Killer Is Dead. Yes, I know NMH came first, and KiD giving it a slightly less grounded and more arcadey "oomph", but I honestly feel Grasshopper perfected the melee combat in their action games up until now. Because it looks like Romeo is taking the mantle next week.

Another Suda fan here ::peek
I'm curious about this one, i want to know the type of narrative this going to have cause gameplay wise i see refined concepts and ideas he use before.

I like the fact that the man (SUDA 51) stays pretty much eccentric in his approach on creating worlds and characters.

You're right, I had kinda forgot about TSA. And yeah, too bad the gameplay was pretty weak in TSA.

I agree, although NMH3 lacked in a few areas their combat really improved and Romeo seems like its trying to mix elements of all their past action games, but with a much more refined gameplay.

Gosh, i liked No More Heroes and Killer7, even without playing them the game looks fire and good to know it is linear, not everything needs to be a Sandbox game, looking forward for a sale on this frentic game

I am in the middle of Chapter 4 for now of Romeo Is A Dead Man. I will give the game this, it has way more combat options than No More Heroes III. Not that Travis in that specific game didn't have any, but his was much more limited compared to the previous games and Killer Is Dead. I got all the weapons early, but now I got level a few up. The melee weapons are fine, but I beef up the default swords to get big damage in, and fast swing. Enemy variety is getting much diverse as you progress. I love the Killer7 throwback with the zombie weak points.

Also, fuck the mall boss in Chapter 2! I was nearly stuck on him for half an hour! At least I got a sweet kill out of it! I bought all of the melee weapons, and upgraded the standard sword so far. I am going to start upgrading the ranged weapons soon.

overpriced generic loooking slop, no thanks
It's not "generic slop".You're just not interested. Fine if you're not interested but don't knock it till you actually try it. $50 is not overpriced for this type of game. You're either in or you're out. You're clearly out so you have nothing else to say at this point, and I suggest you just play something else.
