So I started back up on Rollercoaster Tycoon (using OpenRCT2) and totally got bit by the bug again. This was a game that I heard about a lot when I was young, but unfortunately never got a chance to play it (cereal box prizes be damned), but man, I would have loved this when I was younger

My big problem for the longest time was getting the stairways correct on elevated rides (like to the point where I was hesitant to even build them). Was and still is a total kick in the pants, but I think I got the hang of it

I used to play a whole ton of Rollercoaster Tycoon
It's one of those games that you want to play a little of and then you look and realize 12 hours have past.

Rollercoaster Tycoon looks really fun and I think I would love it because it reminds me of The Sims. But I'm afraid it might be one of those games I never get around to playing since I already have so much to play. We will see.

Tora, Tora, Tora!
The first game is still my favorite.

I want to play rollercoaster tycoon too
But I can't find how to install and play
How you did it?

This game was my life when I was a kid. Honestly, I would spend hours (days?) designing my own roller coasters and even wanted to go to school for roller coaster design (i did not lol). It was my Saturday morning obsession when I got computer time and I didn't dial up to play it (now showing my age).

I've been having the toughest time trying to figure out how to design a coaster that'll actually function. I tried making a wooden one called "Le Colon Trouble", but I couldn't get the cars over the first pass. Didn't think it was this in depth

Best way to get into it is to buy 1 and 2 on GOG, then get the OpenRCT2 mod up and running that combines the content of both versions.

Aside from that, there is a console port of the first game on OG Xbox if you wanna get weird with it.

Ambiguousamphibian said that's what he originally played back in the day. He said it actually controlled pretty okay for a PC to home console conversion

I played Rollercoaster Tycoon 2 which actually had a tutorial to teach you how to design your own rollercoasters. My problem wasn't the finishing the design, it's been not making it too rough with high g forces for my passengers. I would always make them to the point where they would get sick or avoid the coaster together :loldog

Great memories though ::heart

Oh man this brings back memories.

Sitting in the dark, dad's Dell laptop in hand playing the first game for definitely way too long for my teenage self but hey, it was the holidays.

I vividly remember my dad watching me play, then giving me a tip and asking me to let him show me - He then ended up playing the game and getting my park up to snuff with input from me for the next 2 hours as we lost track of time.

Then the sheer hundreds to thousands of hours I poured into the third game in my late teens.
The "Soaked" expansion basically broke the game with how overpowered the water features were to draw in guests.

I don't know why, but Planet Coaster never scratched the same itch for me.
Nor did anything after RCT3 tbh.

I played a lot of RTC 3, like I have that panda icon burned in my mind. I just build my own sandbox experience, and never liked the scenarios.

Until I bought RTC 2 on my phone many years ago and have a blast. Truly amazing games.
