Does anyone remember Ribbit King for GameCube and PS2? Wasn't a very popular game but I think it was pretty good, wish there was a sequel.

I had it on Gamecube and played a little bit of it. It had its own unique charm iirc but I wonder what they would've done to make a sequel different enough to pull people in, since the first one kinda came and went?

I thought the collectible bottlecap figures and the separate disc with unlockable movies was cool. I don't know of any other game that used a second disc just for extra stuff.
I think if they made some kind of sequel they could have had online multiplayer, maybe instead of being turn based they could also have each player play simultaneously, which is unlike real golf but would make it more competitive.

I haven't played a ton of online golf, but I know Links on Xbox and Hot Shots 2 on PSP both did this and it was great. Sped up the rounds, anyway.

Ribbit King is already a sequel, actually. The first game was only released in Japan on the PS1, called "Kero Kero King".

Ribbit King, by nature of being a sequel and providing the developers with the opportunity to polish their presentation and game play, is the superior way to play Frolf, overall. I think it's quite interesting, though, to see the origins and the more rough concept and style they were trying to present through the PS1 limitations.

I would say check it out if you really like the game play loop, because it's just a little more simplified version of the same found in Ribbit King.

Heck yes!
Love me some of that craziness.

It's the kind of wacky concept that makes videogaming so appealing to me, wrapped in a decently polished package. It was never going to be financially successful over here but I'm glad they localized it despite that.
