RGT's Video Game Trivia

motherfucker you just had your turn what

edit: also i feel like a bigger issue is that 2/3 were about the same series
yeah, that is a fair point. i have been playing a lot of pikmin lately, so i had that up front in my mind. so naturally, that affected the questions.

i'm sorry if i was rude

in any case:

2. the tetris cdi soundtrack is a bit of a cult classic for how competent it is and for how much it stands out compared to the rest of the series, but what genre is it?

1. God Eater.
2. New Age? I dunno what it's called genre wise, I call it 90s mall music.
3. I dunno the guy but I faintly remember on internet someone bragging about appearing in MTV cribs but he posted it on his youtube channel, if its same person if I have to choose out of 4, considering he is a habitual liar, I pick A.

2/3, the 3rd answer is wrong, he really did say that. if nobody answers 24 hours from now the stage will be yours

3. Uhhh 30?

This looks fun, we should get it going again.

As far as the difficulty of the questions, what if we went with this approach? Either:

1. A somewhat obscure fact about a very well-known game or franchise

Or

2. A common fact about an obscure game or franchise

Having a very common fact about a well-known game often isn't satisfying(though fun sometimes), and wanting an obscure factoid for a niche game feels completely cryptic and unguessable to anyone not well-versed with the subject matter. Of course the difficulty is going to vary, but I'm assuming that's why participation has dried up. Looking through the thread, I've seen a pretty even mix of questions I either knew the answer to or could reasonably guess at, as well as hyper-specific things I could never in a million years randomly guess.

Of course, if you're not sure how approachable the questions are, multiple choice works well. Or, for a number-based question, how about whoever guesses closest gets it? Expecting someone to guess the exact numeric answer is kind of unrealistic unless there are only a handful of possibilities. Since we aren't expected to need to look up the answers to reasonably guess at them, it would help if they were at least somewhat approachable.

Then again, that's just my two cents, or three and a half cents after inflation.

since it's been 3 decades since the last post. i've come up with a few easy ones.
1. how many levels are there in super mario bros 1?
2. how many types of pikmin are there?
3. true or false: tellah from final fantasy 4 can lose stats upon leveling up.

8
9
True

1. i meant individual levels, not worlds, but i'm pretty certain you can beat the game in 8 levels, so i'll take it.
2. it should be 10, but there 9 official pikmin types, so another correct answer.
3. correct.

it's now your turn to post some questions, unless you want me to make up another set.

1. What was the name of Link's hat in the Legend of Zelda: The Minish Cap?
2. In which Sonic the Hedgehog game did Blaze the Cat debut?
3. On CRT televisions what channel do you have to turn to in order to play video games?

No idea but I'm bumping this thread to say:
3. It depends on the the tv, most say "Video" 1-3 depending on how which component input it had would was connected to that correspond to the number. Some of the newest models might have had "Input" but mainly it was Video.

1. Ezlo? I think that's how it was spelled.
2. Sonic Rush!
3. Channel 3 or 4 are typically the iconic answers, but I was lucky enough growing up to just have CRTs with "input" functions so I never had to fiddle with any of that.

CORRECT! Take it away!

1. What was the first pack-in game for the Sega Genesis in North America?
2. How many Tony Hawk games have featured Marvel Comics superheroes as unlockable characters?
3. After eating a certain number of pellets in a stage of the original Pac-Man, the ghost Blinky becomes as fast as Pac-Man himself for the rest of the stage. What nickname did the community give this powered-up version of Blinky?
Post automatically merged:

Thinking on this more, maybe a fun way to do it would be to have 3 questions but only require 2 of 3 to be correct? Structure it with the main two questions being easier due to being multiple choice/true false or less obscure picks and then have a third bonus question that is allowed to be much more niche because it isn't necessarily required to win. I think my 3 picks work well in this way:

1. What was the first pack-in game for the Sega Genesis in North America?
A - Alex Kidd in the Enchanted Castle
B - Altered Beast
C - Sonic the Hedgehog
D - Sonic the Hedgehog 2

2. How many Tony Hawk games have featured Marvel Comics superheroes as unlockable characters?
A - 1
B - 3
C - 0
D - 5
Bonus Question: After eating a certain number of pellets in a stage of the original Pac-Man, the ghost Blinky becomes as fast as Pac-Man himself for the rest of the stage. What nickname did the community give this powered-up version of Blinky?
