One weird stuff about crafting mithril armor pieces, when you select wich character you want to craft a piece of armor for, you are selecting just the type of armor. If you select the main character the smith makes a heavy armor piece and if you select Milo or Pyra he makes a light armor piece. Since Milo can equip both types you have to order a set for the hero to get him a heavy set with the best defence

I know the feeling, I just destroyed my fire staff from over usage. It cracked an smoked and instead of taking it to get fixed at the smith I used it again and it exploded

Congrats! I'd say you're ok to progress whenever you've got the items you need. I haven't needed to purposefully stop and grind, and only leave the dungeon when I'm forced to from low mp/story reasons. The only grinding I've done is from getting lost xD Good luck with level 2, it's much less of a pain to navigate than the trial of wisdom was

Finished level 2 and am now on to level 3. I only got about 1/4 through level 3 until I had to warp out. Milo got heal 4 and now it costs way more to heal for basically the same amount. So lame :(

When you go to select your heal spell press left or right to choose the strength of spell to prevent wasting unnecessary MP! Applies to all other spells too :)

Yes indeed - I was invested throughout and can finally say I've beaten a first person dungeon crawler. I'm not sure who I'd recommend it too - It's very niche. But I had a good time, so yeah. :D
I'm gonna explore more games in the genre too, and other Shining games.

Is this your second time playing through the game? Have your feelings on it changed at all?

I'm still in the final floor and It's also my first time playing it. Be careful, it may become an acquired taste. So far I'm having a good time but I'm just glad the next dungeon crawler in the series has an automap.

I am also way behind, just starting, so more behind than you. I know I said earlier I was sitting down to play, but got distracted by rl that day, then spent last week writing review for einhander But anyway, I want to make some headway on this game today

Finally made it to level 5! Saved the princess too. I found the demon staff randomly so I’m going to try to obtain the super flail. Then I think I’ll be ready to face Dark Sol!

The XP points there are quite high, if the demon staff fails, Pyra will learn Muddle 2 pretty quickly and the Super Flail will be yours in no time

Didn't get as far as wanted yesterday , but mostly done grinding slimes, pit worms etc. and can push deep now ^_^
