I guess this one is beyond me, got to stage 3 in easy mode just by pure luck, I'm incapable to see the enemy bullets, better get back to gradius

Agreed. This fucker is a pain. I'm wondering if it is my emulator though when it comes to fine movements, but duckstation has never given me problems with controls...In my opinion there is not enough room for maneuver in this game.
Oh, yes I'm stuck here too! Turn on Runahed if you feel/suspect input lagAgreed. This fucker is a pain. I'm wondering if it is my emulator though when it comes to fine movements, but duckstation has never given me problems with controls...

And I keep scraping off my gunpods >_<
This dude was the first brick wall in the game for me. Just in case like me you weren't aware, pressing R2/L2 actually increases or decreases your speed by one level, and it remains that way until you change it again. I thought it was just a quick boost or something, but no. You have 4 speed levels. You start at level 2. I find for most bosses and tough sections, it is best to remain on speed 3, or even 4.Agreed. This fucker is a pain.
For the bit with his twin lasers at the beginning, the best advice I can give is to "only move when you have to". As long as you're holding down the fire button, he'll melt eventually.Oh, yes I'm stuck here too!
Yea, me neither. I really like silpheed on the segaCD (only shmup that stands out for me), and I have played other coop shooters with friends. For everyone talking about how good the music is for einhander, I think it is pretty mediocre. But for all I know, maybe the soundtrack for silpheed was just that good?I almost never played shmups before.
Yea that was the problem, didn't understand/notice how it affects the control, I thought it made events happen faster or something, progressing through the level. I also just really like the whoosh sound it makes >_<This dude was the first brick wall in the game for me. I wish MiSTer supported retro achievements!Attempting to get some extra achievements on Einhander...expect alot of deaths xD
How tf survive in this hell?
I've heard great things about MiSTer - Let's hope it's something that can be implemented in the future!I wish MiSTer supported retro achievements!
11:50 - I've never seen this. How did you take a lower path here? Destroying the lower body of the mini boss only?
It looks like you are using the same fighter I was with only one gunpod. It's a trap, I fell for the same thing: "easy to pilot", my ass... Honestly, I used savestates, so I basically had infinite lives >_< I started a new run just now for fun and more gunpods makes things much easier. The one less machine gun makes little difference; the enemies on the first stage go down is pretty much same amount of time, but being able to vulkan AND cannon down a boss seems clutch.View attachment 98670

imo, vulkan is the best I think, stock up on that shit. Cannon I think is second.Cannons
Thanks for the tip! I'll try playing on a different type the next day. And good job on beating the game! Even with the save states it wasn't an easy walk, was it? I haven't been able to get past stage 4 yet on easy and without saves.Beat it last night on easy.

Too true. But at least it's cathartic to fly behind it and watch it self-terminate with it's own arsenal. It will be fun WAITING for it to go back and forth!
Beat it again on easy and it WAS faster with more gunpods (I did it much faster and got a better score ^_^), but I dunno, maybe two machine guns are good? Some bosses went down fast, but some took longer when I ran out of good shit... Still needed my savestate crutchThanks for the tip! I'll try playing on a different type the next day. I'm sorry my objectively superior taste in gaming is proving a challenge.I blame @moonbits for the nomination (iirc) and this resulting torture :P
The first time I got to the final boss (on EASY) I went from 7 continues to a game over, it was embarrassing lolI hope no-one saw how truly dire that last attempt at level 6 was. I just went from 4 continues down 0.
I play on MiSTer and the PS1 core has save states which I use to practice stages. But for a full run completion, no save states. One thing I wish this game had is a stage select for practicing.Who plays without save states? How many stages were you able to complete on easy mode? I'm currently can play to stage 5 with 6 continues left and then successfully lose them all at this stage :3

But my honeat advice would be, play aggressively. Cannons are quite plentiful if you need ammo, and help you make short work of the sub, if you hug the bottom-left corner of the screen. There's a point where tonnes of small brown ships rush you. Shoot as many as you can off-screen and then stay high or low. It's a real make-or-break point in the run imo. But if you pass it, I reckon you can beat the whole game.
