Getting a late start but I def want to participate! How has this book club evaded my gaze for an entire year, clearly I am not as attentive as I should be.

In any case, I love Minish Cap! Haven't played it in some 16ish years but to this day I consider it my favorite 2D Zelda game. I've since played a lot more of the franchise so I'm curious how it'll hold up to my current sensibilities. Hell yea c:

That one frustrated me because I forgot about the smol room with that one key >_< I remembered the room and that it needed the mitts, but couldn't remember how to get to it ::angrygenjin So I wandered around for probably half an hour before I figured it out >_<
Fr i also stuck in third dungeon juat because i didn't found the mitts. But the moment i got it i got soo distracted that i forgot that one room where the key was supposed to be. So i ended up just circling around for a while lol.

I've been slowly working my way through the game, picking up another element, and having to take a break after that dungeon boss.

::moogle-sleep

I'm running around trying to do Kinstone fusions and a small side quest for the Minish community before I jump back into the main story again.

I've never met that enemy. Is this a cut/beta one?

Anyway this looks scarier than like-likes...
No it's legit.
It's in the actual game, but I have only seen it in one location.
Yea, it was a heart location, but I forget >_< maybe I can look through my savestates to pinpoint. lol I didn't know it was that rare, I guess it was lucky I fucked up and got attacked by it; I could not stop laughing after it happened :loldog

This guy was pissing me off. 😤 So many times I was like, "Come on!" as he was spinning his thick icy self around. And with how often he would shoot a rock, flip and just start ramming TF out of the arena.

I was so happy this boss was done with when I finally got him. But boy, did I have to stop and take a break after him. 😔

Yeah, I think I got lucky. After many failed attempts, he just shot three rocks at me and practically killed himself😅. Just two more bosses to go ::barve-boy

Finished the Marshes' dungeon, now i have the claws!

TRaking some time off the main plot to check how far i get with sidequests, in another note, managed to save the old man of the ghost possesing him, once i reach the skies, i am getting a neato update

Protip: If you want a lot of Kinstones fast, use savestates to get a crapload of rupees in the gambling minigame, buy a White Picolyte, go to Trilby Highlands, and slash a field of grass in the south while under the effect of the Picolyte. Rinse and repeat.

Of course, the whole strategy depends on your willingness to use savestates, but it might be helpful.

I've finally managed to grab those stupid boots and made my way to the third temple.

I've been enjoying the hell out of this month's game, it's nice to be playing something formulaic like a Zelda game where you've always got a reasonable idea about what is going on at any given moment in the story.

Feel like I should have farmed Heart Pieces tho, I've only got like 7 hearts and that's after completing 2 dungeons :L

Okay so I've got 8 hearts now after completing the wind temple. Once again, I find myself a little lost as to where to go next, but I'm pretty sure I'm just supposed to head straight for the next temple with my fingers crossed.

Found a quick money machine with no savestates:
Literally in the front of your house's door, once you get the digging claws, you can find a GUARANTEED red rupee (20 bucks), that respawns everytime time you reenter, Tiring? maybe, but it's faster than most methods i found online, and if you don't like savestate scum, you will retain your honor

I got through the wind temple for real this time. The boss there was interesting, but I'm glad I was able to finish it without dying and having to do half the dungeon again.

I feel like the end is near, as there just seems like there is only a few things to do for the main quest. I've read that there is plenty of side-quest stuff to do post game, which is great. As I feel like I'm making pretty good headway there.

I don't think I'll get all the RA cheevos for the title. But I'm aiming for someplace in the 50s. I've already hit 42, so it's just a matter of post game or pre final boss content.

Hopefully I'll hit the credits before the end of the week.

That boss is so much fun, I've tried for an hour to beat him with no damage and got so close so many times, it feels more like a shmup stage than a regular boss battle with all that bullet dodging. He got the last laugh today but, I'll get him tomorrow ::angrygenjin

Hahh! Hyat! Hyahh!

Looks like we're kicking off the 2nd year of the Nostalgia Society in style with the first GBA game to be ran so far!

And it's a LoZ game as well, what's not to love?
::happy-harkinian

I hope you find one that you like. :] If not, please send me a piece of Minish Cap art or in-game screenshot and I can try to make it into a Userbar for you.

Good luck to all runners! ::fire

After some consideration, I think I not gonna master it.

When it stops being fun, I think its better to stop it before it starts to affect your opinion of the game. Also, it is unfair to judge a game by the archieviments made by a third party.

That said, here's a mini review. Game beaten in 27h41min. 100% completion.

The Good:
  • A great entry on the Zelda handheld lineup and a worthy spiritual successor of the Oracle series for the og Gameboy.
  • Great sense of progression, charming spritework and music. Elzo and Link have good chemestry even though Elzo is doing all the talking.
  • Story wise, is your standard Zelda affair. Big bad wants power, abducts the princess and is your job to rescue her and seal the ancient evil by collecting X number of maguffins on X number of dungeons. It's not about the story, it's about the adventure.
  • Locations are varid and fun to explore and itens you get on dungeons are interesting and fun to use. Shouts out to the Cane of Pace and Roc's Cape.
  • Dungeons are fun and the ability to split in 2-4 to solve pluzzes is very fun, even if frustrating sometimes.

The Okay:
  • The minish mechanic is interesting but kinstone fusion seems like a gimmic more often than not.
  • Most of the rewards for fusions are either money or other kinstone pieces, both things you can easily find cutting grass (specially if you use the correct picolyte). It was really frustrating to fuse kinstones, go all the way to the chest just to recieve a 200 rupee when I had my wallet maxed out, rendering the reward completly useless. 100 kinstones fusions is way too much.

For things that really bothered me:
  • Link is way to slow, making travessing the map a slog if not spamming the roll button. This is specially agravating on boss fights, even more if you are trying to do them damageless.
  • The game has too much animation locks. Every time you use an item its animation will stop you on your tracks and will play till the end, essencially locking you.
  • Link's hurtbox is way to big and every time you are hit, you are pushed back with no i-frames. Sometimes you are hit by an enemy, just to be pushed back and hit another enemy, comboing you. If you are on a corner or ledge, you run the risck of multiple hits or fall off.
  • Freeze and burn status take waaay to long. Although rare, if you are hit by them, it will take forever to recover
  • RNG on some bosses like the falling stones on Gleerok and the giant Oktorock.

All things considered, I would give a 7.8/10.

After some consideration, I think I not gonna master it.
After getting crushed by Vaati a few times, I'm starting feel the same😅. I was wondering why one single achievement was worth 100 points🤔. That's not a simple kill the boss with no damage situation, that's kill three bosses in a row with no damage ::nervous-prinny .
here we go again GIF

I can't believe it took me until the very end of the game to realize that you can roll through Dark Nuts...

Anyway, I beat the game. It was pretty fun. The Temple of Droplets was the worst dungeon.
