Retro games that got you into Collector mode?

What retro games have you played or want to play that made you say 'Man that looks so cool, I need it in my collection!' or at least made you unnecessarily buy merch just for the sake of supporting the game? Or have you ever felt some guilt by emulating a great game and decided to buy it? I don't mean just agreeing with the general consensus of 'yeah this is a nice game' I mean real temptation here, like

This is silly, but for me it was Portal. Back then I only had a medium tier Laptop and then WHAM! every videogame website was talking about Portal, I even played the free Flash version to appease my frustration, but it wasn't enough. I eventually bought it, years after Portal 2 came out, but in the meantime, I tried to collect everything Portal: mugs, t-shirts, companion cubes, I even built papercraft models.

Diablo 2. When it came out I didn't even know much about it at all besides a little bit from my PC magazines. But I saw that sick ass cover and heard talk about it and I bought it when I could, lol.
Wasn't exactly a "collector" back then, I just had my small collection of games I had accumulated over time. But D2 was definitely one of those that made me go "Yup I need that."

I only own around 24 retro games (mostly accidental picks), but Baseball on Famicom was the one game I desperately wanted to own.

I don't think myself as a collector but Final Fantasy XIII made me want to buy XIII-2 & Lightning returns for xbox & pc lmao same happened with Tomb Raider Anniversary, just knew i had to get Legend & Underworld & so i did, lastly BloodRayne 1 was so good i had to get 2 & Betrayal on literally every console i own lmao... & so i did, i have it on xbox, ps,switch & also on pc.

Mike Tyson's Punch Out was the game that started my NES collection, my brother got it for me. Now I have quite a few of the NES games I wanted. I have played all of them at least once. I'm not a collector, as I prefer to play the games I have rather then collect them. Though over the years a collection has developed anyway.
