Retro games review youtuber recommendations

Those are good yt channels.

Ooooh Forgot ST1ka in my list! good pick!
I'll definitely have to check out ST1ka then, and if you like Earlybird you should also check out IAmTheSnuggler

Hah, I literally stumbled across that channel yesterday after reading this thread!

Also, I remembered another one - Hungry Goriya.
Very much a review channel first and foremost and consequently a bit on the dry side rather than comedic, but I appreciate that she has her own takes and doesn't try to echo the general consensus.

(Also also, I'm assuming everyone knows the guy at this point, but just in case: SNES drunk)

Sean Seanson, Majuular, and GameSack are my go-to's. I'll look at what MetalJesusRocks is up to every now and then but he's not my fav.

not exclusively a retro review channel but he does review a lot of retro games.

and of course digital foundrys "DF Retro" series which is really good.

idk how to do the url embed thing...

Oh yeah, seconding DF Retro. Everything they put out is gold, especially their PS1 launch series and PS3 1080p vid

Love me some Nitrorad but haven't heard of DF Retro/Digital Foundry before. Added to the list for sure.

A lot of the ones I watch have already been listed, but some more niche picks:
  • Amelie Doree for JP-only visual novels
  • Bexx Reviews for light gun games
  • MrMixtape for fighting game analysis
  • hazylevels and CatPat for shmups
  • The Electric Underground for general ranting

I know these aren't channels dedicated to retro, but if you're interested here are two channels that feature indie Steam games.

I'll try posting a few that I haven't seen when scrolling the thread:

First Person Shooters, "Boomer Shooters":

Card Game Games, Primarily Yu-gi-oh Video Games:

ARPGs/Retro Game Challenge Videos:

SNES RPG Series, Retro Variety:

Shin Megami Tensei/Persona, Other RPGs:

Retro PC Variety (Ross Game Dungeon):

Retro Variety:

Variety:

Well... Grimbeard was gonna be my first suggestion because I'd only found out about them recently::sailor-embarrassed
A few others I throw on now and again:
Big ups for the Hikiko recommendation! He definitely deserves a lot more love, especially for his console retrospective/title showcase videos, and his horror game stuff is always great.

Yeah, I got into his videos back when I started getting into Swery65 games. He has some really good videos in general, but my favourite is the one where he ranks all the different versions of Deadly Premonition!

ross's game dungeon is mostly older and/or obscure games. he's been mostly too busy with THE MOVIE and the stop killing games movement, so it's kinda slowed down i feel. if you have never watched any then you are in for some content.
Post automatically merged:

some others i forgot

I need more content to binge while doing shit so anyone got recommendations for people who talk about videogames (preferably classics but I'm willing to hear modern stuff too).

I'm a big fan of Grimbeard, Majuular, and Lazy Game Reviews and have seen their full libraries so far. If you haven't there's my recommendation right there.
Uh... Does Scott The Woz count? Lol

Outside of him, I like GenXGrownUp, he reviews a lot of modern retro gaming devices like those mini consoles, compilations, emulation and such. Another one that comes to my mind is The 8-bit Guy, tho he focuses more on Retro technology than just videogames, so old PC stuff and such.

Since Scott single-handedly revived the Gex franchise I'll say yes (You can't convince me otherwise)

Scott The Woz is good from time to time. I love what he's done for Gex, since Gex was a favourite growing up.

Have you heard of Arlo?
He's a blue monster puppet dude on YouTube that mostly does Nintendo stuff. He helped get me to try the Pikmin series, and in general he appeals to my Muppet-obsessed inner child :loldog
