Hey guys!

Found this forum while searching for some info and since it's about retro gaming I said I definitely want in. I'll probably lurk a lot but let me start with "nice meeting you all fellow enthusiasts!"

I'm old enough to have started playing games on a ZX Spectrum +3 back in the day while my friends already had 386s and it was the first computer I actually learned to do programming, eventually in assembly. I was fascinated by some of the games on that thing and that left its print in my retro gaming enthusiasm. I'm "retro" in several ways, some hardware, games, consoles and I own a few while staying away from the ridiculously overpriced ones.

I'm also the author of Continuum 93, a fantasy retro computer emulator that emulates a machine that only existed on paper made up by myself, heavily inspired by the ZX Spectrum and other consoles of the era but gently modernized, not too much though. While still in development, it's released and free to use. I decided to start this project that one day when I refused to purchase an overpriced model of my childhood ZX Spectrum clone I had back then, the only one left I could find. I figured if I buy it, I'll enjoy it more like a nostalgic furniture that will eventually accumulate dust. So I decided to build upon my own nostalgia and hopefully others will get the feeling that I got from that machine. The modernizations I made simply made things a bit easier and natural to get there. At least, that is what I hope for.

I'm also at the stage I am starting to write some games for this released "computer" and the title I chose to start with is Seymour - Take One. Some of you might be familiar with its predecesor series, the Dizzy games also made by Codemasters. If that's alright, I may open topics around here in the appropriate places regarding both these projects.

I'm also an electronics tinkerer, I sometimes build things out of wood and stick microcontrollers in them to make interesting stuff. Nowadays in between my regular developer projects I'm building a retro arcade cabinet and sweating for a week now because ES-DS doesn't see my arcade buttons kit that I ordered from China and I'm doing backflips all over the place to make this work. I might open a topic about that if there are linux folks around here that might want to help a possibly desperate man, once I might reach that stage (hopefully not).

Also play around with AI quite a bit, do some random musical experiments and ideas that I publish on this other YouTube channel.

I did say I tend to lurk, but if I can also contribute with any help you folks figure I can provide, just go right ahead and ask. Looking forward to meeting you guys!

Cheers!
