Capcom surprised everyone during the last Nintendo Direct with the announcement that Resident Evil Requiem will be released on February 27, 2026 simultaneously for Nintendo Switch 2 , PlayStation 5 , Xbox Series X|S and PC .
Now one detail is causing a stir in pre-orders the physical Switch 2 version could be cheaper than the competing versions.

Price difference at Amazon UK

According to current Amazon UK listings the Nintendo Switch 2 version is priced at £59.99. For comparison the PlayStation 5 and the Xbox Series X|S RRPs are £69.99 this is a difference of £10. Amazon has now reduced the price to £64.95 and reducing the difference.
It's obvious that the Switch 2 version will be released as a software key card (with a mandatory download instead of a full game cartridge) which is becoming more common with major third-party titles on the current Nintendo console.

Switch 2 is 12 years old hardware it should be cheaper, but yeah it's very rare
Also game still cost 80$ lmao imagine paying this much for key card

Last gen versions should be cheaper.

You know I'm not even looking forward to this game, I'm waiting for Echoes Of The Living which I've mentioned several times now haha. Weird how I'm more excited for an old school RE style game than a brand new actual RE game...

No that's fine.

They're two different kinds of games though, aren't they? There's crossover, but I'd say comparing re2 and re2 remake is like comparing sonic and mario, and then to the first person ones is like comparing mario world to mario 64. Theres comparisons to be made and you can see the lineage but liking one not the other is totally normal.

I never said I didn't like the new RE games though mate, I just prefer the old style ones over the modern releases. 2 Remake was excellent though.

I meant more that I totally get why even within the franchise you could have a strong preference in any one direction to the exclusion of another since the flavours of RE are so varied. In any case I think I get where you're coming from, even if i'm not describing your preference perfectly.

I dont think the quality has dipped either, i've played 2 and 3 remake and had a blast, thats why i compared them to mario and sonic and not like... bubsy.

Oh yeah true I get what you mean. I'm more of a zombies, fixed cameras and tank controls kind of guy haha.

I also prefer the old Resident Evil games.
Mostly because I can't run the new ones. ::sailor-embarrassed

Imagine paying for games when you can get them for free, patched for the original voice acting, with bug fixes, translation and more from this guy:

It's not inversely true imo.

I mean graphics alone should never justify the price of a game either.
Yeah, but this is an opinion that does not fit with reality. High graphics / animations / details means high development cost, and that will be reflected in the final price. A good story is cheap, just one person can create it. A good OST same. Everything but high end graphics can be created by a person only.

That's why you have games that are a blast with graphics that are just crap if you compare them with nowaday standard of what is considered high end. It does not matter, of course, but again, the more the game costs, the more you have to charge for it.

I'm thinking of trying to get back into the RE series with 7/8/9 coming to Switch 2 next year. The last game I played was 6, last one beat was 5....haven't played any of the sequels or remakes since then.

What surprised me most was that the switch 2 even got this game. I really wouldn't have thought that.

well ofc it´s cheaper it´s a shitier version. It´s a wonder it can even run the damn game I mean if the PS4 is to weak to run the game so it will only be on PS5 well. So they probably thing if the charge more for an inferior version people will lose their shit.
