After I finished ClusterTruck I decided to get back into RPGs, since school is ending, and I have plenty of free time on my hands until early June. And the first one I decided to play was Pokémon Y, I decided to use Pokémon I never used in any other play through of a Pokémon game before. I played through this game twice before (last I played it was back in 2017) and went with this team: Greninja, Charizard, Swalot, Ferrothorn, Sylveon and Haxorus.
I always found these games boring since all I did was spamming attacking moves, that's why I decided to use some new tactics, especially with Ferrothorn, Swalot and Sylveon. I also decided to not use the "XP share" unless I was leveling up my Pokémon before a gym. These decisions genuinely revived my interest in the series. I will play Ruby next, right after I get through Among The Sleep and Silent Hill 4 (clearing out my backlog).
And yes, Kalos is still easy as fuck, got through 4 gym leaders and 1 Elite Four just by stalling with either Ferrothorn or Swalot).

Just a general question, wasn't Pokémon X and Y, and later installments a bit easier in terms of the gyms and the bosses as well ?

Also, have you played the original Silent Hill ?
Yeah, from XY onwards they became super easy, Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon ramped up the difficulty a bit, but the older games are 100% harder.
I haven't played an SH game in my entire life. Gonna start with 4 since that is the only one on GOG.

I think a thing that made Kalos like so easy was the fact that most of the Pokémon can be given to you, just like that, you got:
1 Starter from Kalos
1 Starter from Kanto
1 Lucario I believe
1 out of two fossil
And those fuckers wreck the shit out of everybody.

Oh man I remember playing Y (bc Yveltal is cool) and it "annoyed" me a bit bc of how good the mons were compared to how mediocre the game felt as a whole? Also kinda wish that whole garden with the runaway pokemons mattered more to the story

dont forget lapras and the box legendaries

have you ever heard of the hacks called Eternal X and Wilting Y?
I played them some years ago, they offer some QoL changes and ramped difficulty for the games, IMO it's a nice experience.
I did the same with USUM and ORAS but I used diovento's hacks.

Gen 6 is really easy because this was the first game that uses the modern Exp. Share system, except unlike Gen 7 onward, the Level Scaling mechanic doesn't exist, and the Gym Leaders are super easy (If you brought Charizard? Congraulations, you've already beaten the 8th Gym.), and if you bring Lucario to the champion, then you've basically already won.
