I don't know if this is the right place to ask this, but is it potentially possible that this can be cut in half or outright removed? I was trying to make a profile post but forgotten to add something to my message, and made the mistake of deleting it instead of editing it, but when I try to make another one, I have to wait a whole hour before I can make another profile post. Considering that there has been ways to avoid spam iirc by limiting access to the forums at a certain level, is it possible that this can be removed and/or altered?

The thing about the profile post limit is that it wasn't implemented to curb spam, but to prevent flooding of the home page by limiting the amount of entries people could send.

I do consider the current limit to be a little on the extreme side, however.

Should this be altered, I think that 5 or 10 minutes should be appropriate, or just taking the same limit as a typical thread post because this is atrocious...

I don't think those limits cut it, to be honest.

I remember being a member of older (admittedly far more spammy) sites and it was incredibly painful just watching the main feed update live when people got the chance to make profile posts, and those sites were smaller than RGT.

Maybe half an hour -- that's the limit I apply to my own updates (yes, Staff Members don't get limited, even though we probably should).

As Waffles mentioned, we’ve encountered this issue numerous times in the past, where some users posted multiple messages in quick succession, taking over the entire main page.
This is obviously unfair to other users, as it prevents their messages from being seen.

Anyway, we will discuss it among the team again, but i can't guarantee anything.

I see... But can't you limit those that had done spammy messages and whatnot? Most of the sites that I use would take notice of that and would almost immediately warn the user regarding that. Anyway, I hope that you guys can come across anything, and if nothing changes... Then that's fine. it just makes the experience of using this form a bit harder for me to enjoy.

Same thing happened to me some weeks ago, yeah it's a bit too much

It took me 50 minutes to make a thread about Friday Night Funkin' because of this. Absolutely bonkers.
You can make new threads with very little delay. Just not profile posts.
The same person doing constant profile posts get spammy real quick.

Yeah, one user would spam full Manga in the forum, not small little pages but full manga scans.
*Glares* You know who you are.

It's kind of rude to everyone else.
I'm not going to act like I haven't done double and triple posts in a row.
I'm guilty of it too.
