Remember when people used to think Nickelodeon all Star Brawl and Multiversus would be "smash killers"?

I've been playing World of Warcraft for more that 10 years and that game is allegedly dying since 2008-ish. And every new relatively big MMO released since then was claimed to be "a WoW killer" but we know how it turned out in 99.9% of the time. So I don't believe in *any game* killers. Also I dont remember if such thing ever happened at all, like a very similar game killing its predecessor.

Yep. And before all that, PS All stars battle royale was also a “smash killer”, I think. Idk if Sony ever called PS All Stars a smash killer.

Yeah the "Something-or-other Killer" is super overblown marketing/editorial language and you're right, it never lives up to the thing it 's said to "kill".

That, or they're mostly unrelated things that some marketing peeps thought would be cute to compare for publicity's sake, lol. Like how Dark Cloud was supposed to be a "Zelda Killer", lol. Apples and Oranges, IMO.
