I'm always amazed by how loved this game was.

Not only did it have its very own subforum on the largest gaming site I knew at the time (and no other game ever got that honor), but people were so nuts about it that they even devised a way to get a multiplayer tournament going by using a homemade script and the replay files produced by the game after each race to create a leaderboard of sorts. This lasted five years and attracted players from all over the world, some of whom didn't speak a word of Spanish (the site's official language). The only reason the tournament stopped in the end was because the guy in charge got tired of running it, but replacements soon emerged.

I still play this game from time to time myself, and even create my own tracks to do ridiculous things with the in-built track editor. It's such a blast, and the whole thing has aged surprisingly well.

Did you ever play it?

I'm too young to have experienced it but I do recall checking a community website for it some years ago and was surprised by it remaining active, relatively speaking.

Yeah! I was gladly surprised to see that the French Rally (dating back to 2002) was still active in 2015 or so.

I have no clue about the current state of the community, though.

I don't know much either but if the game was loved that much then there's probably a good reason, maybe something revolutionary

Oh yeah, I looked at it more and it's a good example of an early 3D driving game and you could make your own tracks too, thats way ahead of its time.

One thing I adore is that the game is absolutely cool with letting you pull all sorts of shenanigans... wanna challenge an AI opponent to a race on a map of your own creation? Not only are you totally allowed to, but you can also be an insufferable prick while you are at it, too. I distinctly remember getting myself behind the wheel of an Indy car and letting my opponent drive a soccer mom van that would inevitability wreck itself on the jumps... and then the AI would complain about it after the race. It was just great XD

Doesn't it kind of look like Hard Drivin' by Atari too?
Also that's pretty cool, the fact that the AI can drive your custom made tracks, some newer games don't even have that kind of AI.

Woah, yeah. It looks a lot like it.

Right? I so wish I could have that on some of my favorite racers.

Oh wow, Hard Drivin' - I haven't thought about this game in forever. I remember it being incredible although at the time I never managed to drive through that spiral road in one of the tracks successfully.

I never knew Stunts had a huge community but I do remember loving it. It cemented early on my preference for racing games with jumps and loops. I never got into racing sims, other than colin mcrae, as a result. I was terrible at Stunts, but I was like 5 or 6 when I played it for the first time , and I didn't speak a word of English so I find it impressive that I even managed to play any tracks at all. It's about time for a revisit I think. Dosbox here I go.

I've never heard of this one but it looks really impressive for it's time. I know what I'm gonna try out randomly one of these days.
