Yes.
I had it on the genesis. Our family was too poor at the time to afford a PS2 but our neighbor donated a Genesis and a box of games to us. Primal Rage was one of the games in the box and I used to play it early in the morning before school with a bunch of other random games like Phantom 2049 and Warlock.

I didnt play it, my memory of it was the gaming magazine saying good things about it in the 90's.

Played the Genesis port a few times and thought it was alright, but then one day I saw the original arcade and was floored how much better it looked! The 16-bit and even 32-bit ports just were not as good looking as the original (less frames and smaller sprites).

Yeah.
The original Primal Rage never had a good port

Saw it for the first time at an arcade in 2004. It was in a severe state of disrepair and had been converted to a "candy" cabinet. And for some weird reason, the controls were reversed! Down was for jumping, and so on. That was very off-putting.

It's not a terrible game, but other than the stop-motion dinosaurs (and Chaos, the farting gorilla) there's not a lot to it. I do appreciate how the combos actually work more like Street Fighter than other non-Japanese fighting games of the time.

EDIT: Let's not forget that the arcade version is impossible to emulate properly because it utilizes some form of obscure anti-piracy protection that no one has been able to crack fully yet and which not even the original devs want to figure out. Because of this, the blood is yellow, characters can fall and get back up on thin air, some combos and specials can't be done, etc. The closest port to the arcade is the MS-DOS port.

Played the arcade version via Midway Arcade Treasures 2 on the OG Xbox. I thought it was an alright game, good to have a fun and kill time but not that great of a fighting game. Tho i seen people pull of some insane combos.

Raptor pack! ASSEMBLE!!!!
