Medabots is probably the only childhood show I can still sit through and watch throughout without ever feeling disconnected to it or getting a nagging feeling that I'm slightly too old to be invested in its story and characters (Digimon Tamers is the only other example that comes to mind).

If I had to think of a single word to describe it, it would be "charming" -- it's a really charming show with a lot of comedic value and even surprisingly engaging storylines that I still want to sit through, even though I know them by heart at this point.

Sadly, I think most of you will tell me that you don't remember Medabots at all, and that's because American networks seemed to have had an ongoing game of hot potato with it, tossing it around until you couldn't find it at all. Luckily, Jetix Latin America treated it with a lot more respect, to the point of airing all three seasons on its network.

But is it really worth it? My nostalgia is powerful, but it isn't really a compelling argument... so, I'll just tell you that my nephews always want to watch it whenever I'm babysitting them (and I do mean always).

Here's a pretty great video on the show:

I remember it, though I've never seen the second season of it.
Not surprised.

I think most places didn't even get to the end of the first one before they pulled it from the air.

Most people act surprised when I tell them about the third one.

I did watch all of the first season though. Looking at some anime sites, I don't see a third season of Medabots listed.

It's this one:

Here, it aired as Medabots S3. Others have it as an entirely different series.

Yeah, Medabot Spirits, but I see it listed as Medabots 2 though:

I sure do and I also am aware that some NFT grifters recently tried to use the Medabots name to peddle one of their scams.

Yeah, the "FOX Kids" block was tossed around wily-nilly for a few years and ended up as Jetix/Toon Disney in a lot of places. I remember the show starting on the Sat AM "Kids WB" block and then vanishing, lol.

I might try and give it a shot. By the time it was on I was already on the way out of the Pokemon-mania that took over the world and that style of show just didn't do it for me.

On that note; the Season one is up on Tubi for free for anyone interested.

A good friend of mine named Imaishi did the animation for episode 14. He would later go on to create Trigger. He's getting old like me now but every once in a while they pull him out of his goon cave to crank out another masterpiece.

I remember watching Medabots at the Animax segment of Canal 7, with Claudio Morgado. It was very enraged because at the beggining they start broadcasting Digimon Adventure, then Medabots, Sakura Card Captors and the last one who replaced them all was Hamtaro. I was angry at the damn hamsters lol

Its one of the few Animes in which I saw regular adults actually doing something. Jouzou Tenryou, whom is non other than the protagonist's father has an undisclosed job that keeps him away from his family for a long time. Now in rare ocasions such as in Captain Tsubasa its revealed that the father has a job as a ship captain that keeps him away from his family for long periods of time but in most Anime the parents occupations are seldom revealed and most father are just completely absent from the audience point of view. Now imagine my surprise when I realized that Ikki's dad was not only very real and alive but that his job was actually related in universe to the core element of the franchise. He was a part of the Select Corps which are the government's elite unit in charge of protecting civilians and contain and neutralize hazardous situations caused by Medabots that have gone rough or are missued for criminal intent.

Yeah, that was huge for me as well.

No-one is messing about and pretending that Medabots are just toys kids use. Schools have rules against bringing them to class, the bullies excerpt their power through the use of powerful Medabots, several key industries make use of Medabots to complete their jobs...

I even remember the organized crime (not only the Rubber Robo Gang) using them to achieve their goals.

Medabots: Metabee GameBoy Advance

I've never actually seen this show before, I've only played a game on the GBA, where you can customize your bot after defeating an opponent, It was really good Ngl.

Call me childish but did the bots move, like being articulated like transformers ? . I am curious as I've never heard of this before.😅

it wasnt like transformers i dont think

i had a pair of lil soft plastic ones where u could mix and match the body parts to make ur own lil guy (no transforming)
i also had a bigger version of Metabee where u could put his armour on and then shoot plastic bullets outta his arms i think?

This show hung around in my mind for ages!

I super adored Brass growing up and was over the moon when I got her toy in my Hungry Jacks (Australian Version of Burger king that sort of broke off and became it's own thing while still being related. It's complicated.) My heart was quickly broken when she fell out of my pocket the next day at school and I couldn't find her anymore. I'm looking forward to finally getting a start into those Medabot GBA games.

I love how the houses "remodeled" by the RR Gang remained like that after that episode. Fucking genius XD

Just tried the GBA games recently and I'm hooked. I'll probably watch the Medabots anime after I finish watching Digimon: Digital Monsters.

Oddly, I could only find the English dub of Medabots and none of the Medarot sequels.

I remember watching it as a kid. Quite good and underated in my opinion.

Unfortunately, I Think it had no luck as it had to compete with other more popular cartoons.

Omg, I love Medabots :)
Even as a adult.
I used to watch it a lot, as a kid.
And play gba video game of Medabots.
I had no clue wtf I was doing most of the time and getting one-shotted a lot (english isn't my main language and I was kind of dumb😆), but I have really fond momories of it. 😫
Medabots made me realize I like giant robots fighting, so as I grew up, I started playing Super Robot Taisen.
