It can be safe, Disable internet and put on Airplane mode when using app.
And look for App info permissions, not allowed phone and contacts.

Otherwise go Google Play Store free (limited functions) or buy full

I've used scrcpy and OBS for high quality recording, but you'll need the phone connected to a PC or laptop.

If you don't like the Google Store and apps with ads there's a FOSS screen recorder. Never tested myself but might be worth a shot.
