i've been RECENTLY being annoyed at megaman battle network 1
this is definitely a game you'd rather EMULATE
the encounter rate is horrible and the game pacing is pretty slow! i get its more of an RPG megaman...
you get a fight every 10 SECONDS of running around! it's absurd
you DON"T level up fighting enemies in this game, all they give is money or battlechip drops.
so
emulate it so you can fast forward, disable encounters with cheats and make it much less annoying to complete all 6 games.
this is one game where emulation makes it SO MUCH better.
DO NOT BUY MEGAMAN BATTLE NETWORK COLLECTION
trust me on this one! there's no quicksave/load, no way to reduce encounters, no fast forwarding, and to be fair it doesn't even LOOK good as a GBA game scaled to whatever screen size (really bad on 4k screen imo)
none of the DS ports (MMBN1 shooting star, see below, and BN5 which combines both "versions" into one)
so you're paying for GBA games with no real useful extra features
...oh there is one option, which makes you do 100x damage with mega buster, which while it's really useful to speed up the game its really a massive cheat mode lol.
theres also DS remake of Megaman battle network 1,
Rockman Exe, operate shooting star
it's a japanese game but there is a translation patch for this game!!
Rockman EXE: Operate Shooting Star (English Patched) DS ROM Languages: English Patched. For the NDS.
cdromance.org
which is mostly the same story and game, (with a little starforce crossover mixed into it, which is the main reason it was remade) allowing use of Starforce megaman later on.
but mainly a HUGE number of updates from later MMBN games,
ESPECIALY including a lower encounter rate, a map on the bottom screen.
an escape button (you had to use a chip to escape, if you had none you're stuck in the battle lol)
