Raven Roll Call! (Armored Core)

I never really played any Armored Core :(

Started VI on PS5 but I didn't had time to dedicate myself and as expected, thing is HARD. So I dropped like after the first boss I think.

Is there any entry that is a good first entry for the franchise on PS2 or PS3? I think I'm in the mood of trying the old ones.
ac3 was considered one of the best starting points before 6 came out and it's one of the easiest games in the series too

that being said, the patches have made 6 also on the easier end of the franchise, you might want to revisit it.

On PS2 or PSP?

Armored Core 3 is a pretty cool place to start. You're probably gonna want the True Analogs version for a more modern control style. The AC series didn't start using the right stick for aiming until Last Raven (one of the AC3 expansion games), so the True Analogs hack really makes some of those earlier games more accessible.

correction: it didn't start using the right analog stick for aiming until nexus, not last raven

What about 4, aka the first Miyazaki directing role on From Software? This was the first game of the franchise I bought phisically just because I'm a fan of his work and at the time I was exploring more of From catalogue outside Soulsborne and King's Field/First person crawling games.

I remember between 2009-2012 people being very harsh on the franchise.

it's good and you should play it, but it'd be a waste to not play for answer afterward since it's in the same continuity and most people consider it to be where 4th gen found it's stride.

god bless you for going hover leg, though they're bottom tier in last raven
If you ignore the bad leg weight, horrid boost heat, and exploding if you sneeze on it, they are really nice once you learn brake canceling
(Still very situational tho)
