There was a game called Seaman 2 for the Dreamcast which was only for Japan.

In the game there was a side quest where you have to sing to a plant using the implemented microphone of the Dreamcast. When you do it right the plant starts to change colors and its moods, which gives you a rare item eventually.

It was basically like a Tamagotchi but just not the type you would expect it.

In the original Monster Hunter on PS2 if you hit a Velociprey at the right time as they jump at you with a severing weapon such as a greatsword you will cut them clean in half and the body will fade before you ever have a chance to carve the 2 chunks you just made out of the creature. This kind of gore was severely toned down in subsequent releases.
