Seriously, if you want to see if a game will run under Linux, how well it runs, and any tweaks you might need to do, hit up https://www.protondb.com/. It will let you know.

Platinum is the highest rating, but gold is more or less 100%. I'm just using this as an example.

I mostly use my computer for adobe and audio stuff I think Linux is cool and would like to put it on my laptop but for my main PC it just wouldn't work out.
Fair enough

My laptop died and I repurposed some of the parts for other stuff. I now use my Steam Deck as a desktop so I'm primarily on the Steam OS now at home while stuck with Windows 11 on the "company" laptop. I hate Windows 11. tbh the last time I felt pretty good about Windows was Windows XP. And as far as Mac goes i don't have much of a dog in the fight. Last Mac I used was in middle school...Spring 2005. It was aight back then but current day? Never an option. Not even thought of as one. Price was always a barrier for me and tbh I don't like syncing and interconnectedness(I know it's not a word, shut up) of devices and stuff as weird as that is to say but that may be my ignorance. But either way, I'm not rocking with either but by virtue of Windows being something I still have to use, I gotta say that's worse.

My humble and weak opinion is to forgo both and just switch to Linux if you have one or the other and dislike it.

I don't like Windows for the current bloat, spying and bugs.
I don't know Mac, but it's said to be a pricey walled garden.

I wanted to use Linux but there's so much distros and components to choose for the system that I get lost.
I'd switch when they change the Hierarchy File System or however is called to something more simple like Windows, when I can install whatever program I want without using repositories, have portable programs like Windows, when there isn't dependency conflicts, when I can play games from Windows without installing prefixes with Wine, etc.

Reject modernity return to XP 😝

Do a little research

Then you'll never change
when I can install whatever program I want without using repositories,
Linux has its own software manager built in. You just click install, and it gets whatever dependencies it needs with the program. It's about the same as double clicking a .exe file and clicking install...

And it's no different than using Windows' software manager, or app store, install store, or whatever the hell Microsoft call's it now.

The dependency conflicts, only happen when you're trying to use libraries you don't have or aren’t compatible with your system. And 99% of the time, Linux will give you an upfront warning about this....

If you go ahead and install it without reading the warning, that's on you, not the OS.
Reject modernity return to XP 😝
(I love Windows XP, don't get me wrong)

But yes, go back to an ungodly unsafe, super out of date OS that will get your information stolen no matter what precautions you take. Sure, go right ahead

A couple of years ago, i would have say Mac is worse, but with recent developments in Windows I don’t think it is good, they are pushing their AI, spyware and payed services as much as they can.

Yes, Mac is expensive, but they work, I know I’m using 2016 MacBook Pro and it works just like when I open it.

And what do you think the Steam Deck runs on?

A variant of Mac? Or Windows? Ha, no. It's a fork of Arch Linux (by the way) That's what Proton was created for... Linux, so all these Windows games on Steam can run on their Steam Deck under Linux. So no, there's not a dependency issue with gaming on Linux. It’s just that people who don't use Linux daily mostly don’t know how to use Proton and Wine and the like.

And yes, some games just don’t work currently under Linux, I will give you that. But 99% of the ones that don’t work are because of either A. developers not wanting to support them or B. they are games like Fortnite that have that Asinine anti-cheat engine...

Because yeah, Windows users playing video games, can’t use cheat software ya'know.

@Zerpina don't get too mad at me ::weirdasshands
I don't know that much nor I'm that smart as many of you here.

I just tried very little of Linux and what I said was what I learned trying to research on it.

I know about the software managers and it's really nice but not all software is available on it or is directly from the actual devs.

Why would be my fault a dependency problem if I wanted to use an emulator that needs a dependency version that's not available on the system or if I can't have different versions of them?

The Windows XP was obviously a joke.
But no system it's completely safe, and one can use whatever system while being careful.

Again, don't get mad at me please.
I'm not being confrontative, just expressing myself. Peace.

Maybe it's just nostalgia

Again Research them

It absolutely is, not from the main developers all the time, but a lot of the drivers and such are made by and for Linux users, so that's not an excuse

Never seen an emulator that didn’t work on Linux, not for mainstream emulators....

Linux has everything from the PS4 with the ShadPS4 emulator all the way back to the Magnavox Odyssey. You can run any version of these emulators under Linux. If some emulator isn’t working, for example, with M.A.M.E. or PS2, it’s most likely because you have the wrong BIOS for the system or, in M.A.M.E.’s case, the arcade board

Duh, i knew you where joking

I'm not. and i know you aren't, neither am I
