Saw this in my feed today...
It's just a demo promoting WIP indie game, and it looks...fine, I guess. Now, I don;t want to come off as the "I HATE INDIE GAMES
" guy, but I couldn't help but roll my eyes at this one. There's a moment when the gameplay starts where the character is mobbed by enemies, and is incapable of defending himself, due to his inability to firein anything but a horizontal direction. Because, this is Megaman inspired, you see, that's just the way that goes.
But I kept noting a lot of similarities with Earthworm Jim's design (given Deka Duck is a small animal in an overgrown white robot suit) and I couldn't help but wonder, why not let him shoot in all directions? Jim could do it, Bill & Lance could do it, and fucking Bass could do it, so why not Deka Duck? Why hamper yourself by awful design decisions of the past? Why limit your bvrand new IP by conventions you are not withheld to?
Being able to attack in all possible directions is a GOOD thing, it lets the player defend themselves from all angles. Why do all of these retro throwback keep holding themselves back for no reason? You think Pizza Tower or Antoine Blast were fucking around with limiting the player to Wario's movement from the fucking Gambiy games! Hell, no! They went full apeshit with mobility to make their game stand out, and they became super successful.
At least it's clearly based off of the PSX Megaman X games, and not another NES Megaman knockoff, as you can see Deka Duck can dash and double jump and stuff. So that's pretty cool I guess.
