Puyo Puyo thread

Does it count if we want to talk about Puyo Puyo Tetris here?

I love playing Swap mode in 2 with my boyfriend and hearing him scream like a bitch in voice chat when I dump a bunch of garbage puyos on his side.

Puyo Puyo is released in the U.S. as Robotnik’s Mean Bean Machine it’s basically the same game with Sonic elements.
That mean bean machine game is so difficult. Like i dont know if its just me or not, the first couple of stages are OK, but the difficulty of that game ramps up so hard. Seriously, Robotnik's Mean Bean Machine doesnt play around.

It's not just you; by the third of fourth opponent, the AI really ramps up, especially the puyo drop speed, and it's hard to keep up. Also, since MBM is based on Puyo-Puyo 1, if I recall correctly, it doesn't have some of the more refined rules from Puyo Puyo 2 and other future entries, like garbage Puyo offsetting.

I remember Madou Monogatari on SNES, translated many years ago from the legendary AGTP: a cute JRPG with Arle as the protagonist, and various puyo-puyos (and not only) as enemies to defeat. A real hidden gem!

Yeah I remember this one. I believe the SNES version of Puyo Puyo 2 is translated also.

Idk this is to talk about Puyo Puyo
Sun is the best one, I also like Fever a lot and mainly play the pc port and the ds version. The Gamecube/ps2 version of fever is not very good; the Dreamcast version is the best home-console port.

Mean Bean (Puyo Puyo 1) lacks offsetting, so chains don't remove garbage puyo from the queue; the first one is cute but the series only gets good with 2.

I love Madou Monogatari/Sorcery Saga, I played and finished the pc-98 games and the PC-engine cd remake of the first game (Honoo no sotsuenji), which I absolutely recommend (https://retrogametalk.com/repository/turbografx-cd/madou-monogatari-i-honoo-no-sotsuenji/), I still haven't played Curse of the Great Curry God.
Madou 4 released a few months ago so I'm patiently waiting for a western release, there's no Arle but the new protag seems cute enough, I may just be the only person in my country interested in that game.

I have played Puyo Puyo Tetris and it made me realise that I'm seriously bad at Match-3 Color gravity based falling block puzzle games (despite that I love Meteos and Panel De Pon).

I'm digressing the thread sorry but why Sega never made a Columns VS Puyo Puyo since they own both licences? Or even make a Sega vs Nintendo kind of deal with Puyo Puyo X Panel de Pon.

I'd love to see another shot at Sonic Puyo Puyo but with a bit more respect to the source material.
