I Still Vote For PSP Because Of Visual Novels, Final Fantasy Type-0,Kurohyou 1+2, growlanser 1+4 and Yu-Gi-Oh
Sure ds has also Yu-Gi-Oh Games but the tag Force games is better because it has all the cards at the time of it's released, smooth gameplay and voice acting

Also ds has Pokemon games where ds get its most sales but none of them are the best ultra sun and moon from 3ds beats all of them but still going to pick PSP over 3ds because of Yu-Gi-Oh 😁✌️

I forget special mention to toukiden kiwami ,Peace Walker, Valkyria Chronicles 3 and phantasy Star Portable 2 infinity

The only game I like on ds is Yu-Gi-Oh nightmare troubadour.

Both had Square Enix games that were solid so I'm split. DS had Golden Sun 3 but it's not as good as 1 and 2. Then there's the Pokemon games but the last gen i played was Gen 3. I did enjoy Super Mario 64 DS, Metroid Prime Hunters... Never got Dawn of Sorrow but i wanted it. Loved the heck out of Aria of Sorrow. Drove me nuts when nobody else played Aria. -.-'

They're nearly dead even. The DS technically has more titles, but I found most PSP games more interesting than the DS's library. Also, helps the PSP was that it never relied on a touch screen gimmick that got old by 2010, a majority of 3rd party devs didn't bother with it anymore, or only used for menu functions only.

Better library huh, well that would go to DS. Don't get me wrong, the psp was way better, but was more expensive and could do much more, but when it comes to game library, DS performed way better. Also when the 3ds and vita, well we all know that vita went down in flames while 3ds soared into the switch.

Also Dragon Quest 9 is still locked on ds only, but good news is that released the zenith trilogy (4-6) remakes Localized overseas for the first time. Also Joker series which are very good got released, but sadly 3ds games all stayed japan only.

To be fair and no, I am not counting emulation here, though that in and of itself puts the PSP leagues ahead of the DS, seeing as it could emulate a lot of Nintendo systems. But putting that aside, it all boils down to your gaming preference. Obviously, if you're a Nintendo fan, you will see the DS as the better choice. If you're a Sony fan, then the PSP.

Both had strong libraries, both had great games, and there was little in the way of bad games. But as I see it, the PSP was the superior gaming library solely because it had Parasite Eve: The Third Birthday and Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex.

Well obviously the DS. Has NSMB, Animal Crossing, Mario Kart DS, Starfy, Spirit Tracks, Yoshi's Island DS, Metroid Prime Hunters, Wario Ware Touched, Kirby Canvas Curse, Kirby Superstar Ultra, Sonic Rush, Super Mario 64 DS, Castlevania Dawn of Sorrow, Portrait Ruin, many good hidden gem 3rd party games, Pac-Pix, Nintendogs, Dragon Quest IX, Rhythm Heaven.

PSP has Mega Man Powered Up, Mega Man X Maveric Hunter, Ghosts n Goblins Ressurection, Sega Genesis Classics, and that's all I can think of apart from all those Rhythm games. Also, the UMD port of movies do not count.

That's a piece of shit, and that is a super low bar. The story in character writing is complete ass. The shooting is good, but it's honestly not worth it, because of what they did to Aya. Nothing gainst you personally, but fuck this game. Fuck Square for ruining and making the previous endings to the first two games pointless.

Better PSP games than this game exist:

  • Lumines
  • Pursuit Force
  • Burnout Legends
  • Alpha 3 MAX
  • Darkstalker Chronicles
  • Both GoW games
  • Guilty Gear Judgement
  • Every Extend Extra
  • Outrun 2006

And that's fine if you don't like it. It's only a game, honestly. I liked it, but to each their own.

Both are average in Library
But one has good Megami Tensei games.

It's the DS, man.

I thought this said JRPGs and was about to say PSP
But it says game library so

If you really want an actual story go and read books or watch a movie please I'm tired of this
I am gameplay over story person, most of the time, but I don't make excuses for shitty and especially careless writing and bad stories of this magnitude. Even more so when they got it right the first two times. If you got a problem with my opinion, then suck it up or cry about it on Twitter. Take your pick. I don't make excuses for lazy and bad rubbish. Especially when cashing in on shallow nostalgia and pissing away the good will on fans.

I am not sure what answer you're reaching for right now. While durable, both consoles could still break easily, if not careful. Hell, the PSP had less durability technically with the first models.

Mmmm, DS have good game library but many of them are shovelware, very few game are worth it
PSP have really good games and hidden gems, so I like both consoles, but PSP have GOAT game library

It's not an excuse for game stories to not try harder to be good, but this is such a truth nuke. I don't think games will ever get up to par with the storytelling of other artforms. If we count the story as just by the script.

Nier Automata tells an amazing story, but the best parts of the story are baked into the game mechanics. If you write the story on a piece of paper, it would be quite dull. Same with other story heavy favorites of mine like MGS 2 and Final Fantasy VII.

well... Eternal Punishment's PSP port is great but... it's still a PS1 game while Megami Ibunroku Persona and Innocent Sin are better on PS1 as well Devil Summoner is still a Sega Saturn game

Who cares about stories in games lol I'm very sure you will not buy a game with fucking bad gameplay with an Oscar award stories
But you will buy a game with great gameplay with a fucking bad story

Please Don't deny it ✌️

I mean I really enjoyed playing The House in Fata Morgana and VA-11 HALL-A, and the gameplay wasn't very good.

I don't know why you got the impression that I think gameplay isn't more important than narrative. I literally brought up Nier Automata, man.

PSP because it has
2 God of War games
Mortal Kombat Unchained
Ghost in the Shell SAC
Parasite Eve The 3rd Birthday
Final Fantasy type-0
Death Jr.1-2

Both are awesome consoles with tons of weirdo niche games that I love dearly, but I have to give it to the DS since I feel like due to its lower power, tons of devs flocked to it for making their bizarre experimental games (on top of tons of devs just being really enamored with the touchscreen, sometimes to their detriment and sometimes to their benefit.) It was also just an incredibly awesome system for adventure games, like it gave us:

Another Code
Hotel Dusk + Last Window
The Professor Layton series
999
Touch Detective
Ghost Trick
Apollo Justice and the Edgeworth games (I'm not counting the OG Ace Attorney trilogy cuz those were on the GBA first)
Time Hollow
the surprisingly great Tingle duology

Outside of adventure games, there was also just tons of weird unique stuff that really could've only existed on the DS, on top of a bunch of great RPGs, like we also had:

Electroplankton
The Nameless Game
Chibi Robo Park Patrol and Clean Sweep (both of which are awesome)
Contact
Devil Survivor
Dark Spire
SMT Strange Journey
Etrian Odyssey

Again, I love the PSP as well, but there was just so much bizarre weirdo stuff on the DS that I adore with all my heart.

My answer is that the DS has a better library than the PSP, I just thought this image of a broken one was hilarious so I posted it

this is maybe the most extremely contentious thing in the world but i cant pick a race in this horse the DS has a billion games called Scrumblo Tactics: The Risening that are the solo lives of japanese game developers going out to pasture before game development costs got astronomical and the PSP has a bajillion games called Detriment Nexus | Knight of Sworn Swords that are seemingly visual novels about girls feet. its hard to pick!
