You can select any solider you recruit to play as, but you can also play as Snake with whatever camo you've unlocked. However, to the other players you'll appear as a generic solider to avoid confusion.

By the way, the game takes place in the 70's, so it's Big Boss and not Solid Snake that's the main protagonist.

second player is one of MSF soldiers that got recruited which gives you one of the hundreds of the staff to pick. idk if you can play as snake & snake
