Probably. I doubt Sony learned much from when it was hacked back in 2008 when it comes to cybersecurity. If it doesn't earn them money, they don't value it.

Saw this earlier. Makes me wonder about modern consoles' longevity, especially after the servers are pulled preventing any sort of authentication.
Sony may inevitably push more users to piracy, as that's the only method to ensure your console's usability in the future.

Ive gotten my husband on the "run sunshine on your gaming machine so you can play games on the couch" train. Some of what he wants to play, though, only comes out on PS, and he likes physical copies (can't blame him, even if these days it doesnt mean as much as it used to) so steam kinda sucks. Its the streaming service problem all over again, if what you want isnt all in one place then you have to shell out for multiple to play the things you want.

The PlayStation Network has been having issues for well over a month. It wasn’t until recently that Sony’s site finally shows issues with the network. Several weeks ago I had issues logging into my account and finally gave up after being asked to change my password numerous times.

From what I've seen, it's the authentication of the disc drive for the digital-only variant of the PS5.
Haven't tried a physical game, but I've been playing Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night on my roommate's PS5 during the downtime without issues.
