For whom it may concern.

CITY CONNECTION will be pulling their PSIKYO library from Steam due to expiration of their licence in October 31st, 2025. People who already bought will still be able to keep their copies and play. There is no mention about other stores

It's a shame those titles will be pulled from Steam.
Shmup is niche genre but having them readly avaliable with english translation on Steam was awesome. PSIKYO had releases on multiple consoles along the years but I think this was the only legitimate way to get them on PC.

Every time I hear something is being pulled from digital storefronts, a sense of dread takes over me even though they'll still be avaliable on other plataforms.

Anyway, they are quite cheap so, if you have a passing curiosity or if this news peaked your interest, I highly recommend you buy them.

There is no news about a final sale, tho

GUNBIRD 2 and TENGAI are my recommendations.

This is why digital sucks
Yes, but something more people need to realize is, in this era, physical media will not save you. When the servers go down for whatever platform in 10-20 years' time, you won't be able to use the update patches that a game may have received since its release. Best case scenario, this is "only" new modes and other fun free stuff that may have been added throughout its lifespan: Hollow Knight and its free DLC as an example. (I'm going to assume Hollow Knight's DLC is actually on a physical release because Godmaster was 2018 and it looks like there is a Fangamer release from 2019 of the game... so it's not a GREAT example, but you get what I'm trying to say.) Worst case scenario, it's one of those stinky games that released broken at launch.

Physical or digital, either way you're fucked. Pirates win again?

eh. heard these releases had input lag anyways, MAME'll always be an available option for these too so it ain't the end of the world.

This admittedly does suck to hear, but hey, at least we can still emulate these games through other means.

That's bad.
Sure it doesn't really affect us (there's plenty of other ways to play these games) but it's bad for game preservation overall. More old games need to be made available legitimately, not everyone's a filthy pirate like us. ::eggmanlaugh

Also PSIKYO made some of the finest shooters, go play them NOW!

this is so sad, nyo…i hope they put it on one last deep sale before it goes away nyo
