ps3 vs x360 Megathread

I was unsure of which term to go with, but the form factor was the same aside from sixaxis having gyro and ds3 being slightly heavier, right?

Yeah, but I mean just in general. It was pure hubris era Sony. They were pitching "Dual Shock" as yesterday's news that you wouldn't miss anyway whenever people picked up the new one.

It's still not as bad as Mattrick over at Xbox telling One customers to just buy a 360 though. Same vibe. Xbox apparently made the same play but took it to the end zone.

This is a debate? I knew literally no one who owned a PS3 lol. 360 just sweeps across the board, it's a classic.

All that silly hatred for the contemporary paradigm of Xbox Live, which was copied by everybody.

The only thing I don't like about the 360 taking over is how it killed off and made redundant the other thing OG Xbox was really good for, games built for System Link LAN partying.

A ton of friends gathering together in a house with multiple consoles and TVs to play Crimson Skies, Mech Assault, Halo, Unreal Championship, Time Splitters, Battlefront, etc.

It's no longer a necessity these days, like going to the arcade.

PS3 all the way. a bit biased, sure, but to me it was the superior console.

back when these consoles were the latest, i never knew anyone who had an xbox period, most people either had a pc or a ps3 and some lucky folks had a psp.

yeaaaars later i finally got the chance to play on a 360, courtesy of my girlfriend, and a few things struck me like a bad hangover on a sunday morning:

-the ui felt VERY clunky, sure it was the metro dashboard, nxe or whatevs before it may have been better, but i had a very difficult time navigating the console.

- on top of that, themes?
i don't think you can theme the dashboard in any way, which is a HUGE bummer to me, but hey, maybe the games will make up for the total lack of customization?

-eh. they weren't bad. ps3 still offers way better exclusives imho.

-paid online? LOL!

-RROD? LOL!

but enough bashing the 360, as it does have its good sides such as:

the mini dashboard is extremely fluid and responsive, and you can play music while gaming.
the ps3's overlay ui thingy always felt kinda slow, and i always just hold the PS button until i can get to the more responsive, simpler menu

-talking to people while in game...
why, sony? why couldn't you do that!

overall, i like the ps3 way more. i can play online for free, i have awesome exclusives at my fingertips, i can theme it to my liking, and let's not forget what an entertainment powerhouse it can become with movian.

You used to be able to during the second iteration of the UI, which changed the look of all those little cards, but with either the third or fourth iteration the theme mainly just changed the background.

Wow this thread is just a few hours old and already a hit. Who would have thought that the PS3 and Xbox 360 would be so popular. Hmm now I really regret that I didn't take a look at the Xbox 360 would certainly have been an interesting experience.
