EDIT: After seeing how many games people have added, we could push it to more than just Playstation games?

I have asked a lot of places the same question: PS1, PS2; What are true hidden gems?

I am trying to expand my gaming with these systems and this would be huge to find games I never knew about, that are sick.

Cheers, post them up!

it not the most hidden game but all the ace combat games are fantastic
hollywood might GIF
<-- *not from ace combat*

I feel like AGDQ has made this one more popular lately but No One Can Stop Mr. Domino has always been a childhood favorite. Tobal 2 is one of my favorite fighting games on the system, and for puzzle games I really like Tall infinity and its sequel tall - twin's tower

oh right, for PS2 there's mawaza, really weird puzzle game about connecting dots to make shapes then rotating them by each corner to slam them into other shapes. Road Trip and Choro Q are both fascinating racing game RPGs in the same franchise set in a world where cars are just alive. Flipnic which is this surreal pinball adventure with the most wild graphic design I've seen in a game of that era.

I don't hear this game mentioned often outside of places like this, so just to make sure it's out there, since it's an absolute goddamn masterpiece: Alundra, for the PSX.
Pretty much the best top-down Zelda game that's not a Zelda game. Highly, highly recommend it.

And while I'm at it, here's a random, overlooked action game that deserves way more attention: Rising Zan, also for PSX.

Man, now I'm remembering tons and tons more - I'll limit myself to one more recommendation, since I don't want to flood this thread: Racing Lagoon, a street racing JRPG, also for the PSX.
Games like this are the reason people like me still consider the fifth console generation the most interesting. Genuinely weird ideas realized with an actual budget (for the time). Great stuff.

(Great Youtube channel btw - plenty of other recommendations on there as well)

Oh hell yeah, I was meaning to play Racing Lagoon and entirely forgot about it. Might be my night tonight now

Way of the Samurai series is my suggestion for the thread, also!

Man are you metal jesus rocks and need tip on games for a new video >.< Just kidding.

Man Hidden gem ooh.
Rhapsody: A Musical Adventure 1-3 and best part is all 3 games are on steam.
Grandia 3
Infinite Space to me the best game I ever played on NDS.
Metal max series such underrated game series and my favorite is Metal Saga on the PS2.
Fragile Dreams hands down my NR1 game on the Wii.

I think he meant exclusively for the PS1 and 2, but these recommendations are too good to be ignored, nice!

I second these, though I feel Infinite Space is way too large in scope for the DS; I feel it would have been much better realized on the PSP, Vita or 3DS. It is also very buggy.

The Metal Max series definitely deserves to be played, and most of the games have excellent translations at this point.

On my end, I can recommend a few. While none of them are groundbreakingly incredible, I feel they are low key great games that never got much fanfarre:

All of them are tactical RPGs so your enjoyment will be predicated on your opinion of the genre.

I'd recommend Tsugunai: Atonement if you're heavily invested in the RPG genre. Numerous RPGs shown above are games I'd recommend before this one (Shadow Hearts especially). It features great music from Yasunori Mitsuda and an interesting dodge / parry battle system.

Another general game to recommend would be Skygunner. It looks visually awesome, sounds great, and has a decent flight system to boot.

Thousand Arms for the Playstation 1,one of the greatest underated Hidden JRPG gems ever made and very overlooked,at first glance,it may appear like a typical average Basic turn-based RPG,but this game also incorporates alot of halarious comedy gold dating sim/simulation style gameplay to it where the main character meis can date one of the Girls to powerup his weapons/abilities,and not to mention that this game has a kickass soundtrack and an incredible opening intro by legendary jpop artist "
Ayumi Hamasaki" ^^

I remember playing this one only briefly and I admit I was quick to dismiss it, but it's nice to know there's more to it than meets the eye! I'll give it another go.

OH do so play it,it's quite amazing! it starts out pretty slow at first, but the further you get into it,the more interesting it gets, especially the plot twists this game offers, which has a perfect balance of both humor and drama, and theres plenty more games like this i can reccommend you guys in general:P
