Project Diva Thread!

Oh man, this just took me for a blast to the past

My first foray into project diva, was when the second project diva f released. I dunno how, but i ended up watching a guy stream project diva f 2nd... and it just took me away.. the visuals were like nothing i've seen before, and me being on summer break, i decided to check the game out. And then i downloaded the first game by mistake lol.. but it was still very good! And then it just went from there.

Sorry for the ramble! I still have all of the songs in that game memorized, i remember trying so hard to even perfect a level, and when i wasn't playing it, i listened to the songs on my mp3 player. Fun times...

Currently playing Extend, well I’ve also played F 2nd and a bit of F. (Also X, but I’m a bit disappointed by it)

I’m not very good but I’m definitely getting better

Project Diva X disappointed us all.

I also enjoyed X relatively well and had no issue with the gameplay except for missing the chance time as sometimes happens with songs I'm otherwise unfamiliar with. I remember the song selection being pretty good too. But I am one of the odd ones that doesn't play a Project Diva arcade cabinet the same way as 98% of the population would. What are the complaints with X exactly?

You guys will hate me but...

I honestly enjoyed my time with Project Diva X, and the medleys were a fun thing, atleast to me..
I did find it enjoyable but it was missing something. The songs felt more like a stage performance then the music video like ones from the other games, if that makes sense ::thinking

I mean, it's not an awful game, just the setlist is too short and disappointing for me.

What I said in my last comment.

heheh i also dont rlly like or play the cabinets, im too used to the controller layout of the psvita/ps3

also i really dont like X because of a couple reasons. the first would be the setlist being really short, and the second would be because of the medleys. i only dont like the medleys cause of a few specific songs that i love being stuck only in the medleys alongside songs that i dont much care for. id much rather be able to choose specifically which song to play instead of being forced to play through a whole handful of shorted versions of songs i do and dont like

I wouldn't consider myself a fan yet of the saga, but in my PSP emulator i have the first game of P.Diva because i was curious to try these games, even more curious after watching Miku's movie a few months ago. But i havent got past the first level, the first game doesnt seems to have a tutorial or something that tells me how to get started

all u gotta do is match the buttons to the ones on screen to the beat of the songs :D its easy!

u can also use the D-Pad buttons that correspond to the Face buttons (location wise) to hit the notes too

I'd highly recommend starting with Project Diva 2nd instead. The refinement between the two games is drastic, especially when it comes to input lag. I tried the original after completing all expert stages on 2nd, Extend, F1, and even Mirai and found it to be unplayable.

I highly recommend the series though. I went in totally blind knowing nothing about Miku or J-pop and was instantly hooked on gameplay alone. I really grew to appreciate all the music, costumes/unlockabkes, humor, and fan art. Each game felt like a well-polished love letter to the fan base as opposed to another liscenced cash-grab.

My first and only experience with PD has been "Project Diva 2nd" on PSP with the English patch, I played it a lot. I'm not sure why I never played other titles in the series, though I've played other rhythm games (the Final Fantasy ones for 3ds and two touch-screen ones on the Vita, "Deemo" and "Cytus").
Still, I like the cute graphics on Project Diva and maybe I'll try one of the Vita titles.
