i've heard of another puzzle like this. i think that one was about a wolf, chicken and some plant seeds. you'd take the chicken over first then the wolf and then take the chicken back and keep swapping until all three were over on the other side.
you might have to try something like that; if the game lets you.
Yeah I think it’s based on that one.
 
well, hopefully you can solve it. it looked like you had 3 chickens and wolves each to deal with. how many of each can you transport at a time?
You can only transport 2 animals at a time

I like Layton games although I always run out of hints
I know, I meant the downloadable weekly/daily puzzle that were once available for the DS before the Nintendo WiFi connection service closed down

They are tied to the save file. There's a savefile for DesMume on the Retroachievement subforum for the game.
