Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 (digital only) at $39.99 + $29.99 DLC

Assassin's Creed Blag Flag Resynced at $59.99 or $69.99 or $199.99 + $90 of DLC

EA Sports College Football 27 at $69.99 or $99.99 (with digital stuff + coins) or $149.99 (more digital stuff + 2 types of digital currency)

GTA 6 at $99.99 with DLC

Game pricing models are getting out of hand.

Console and current hardware prices are hiking up. Emphasis in selling barely different controllers for premium price by console makers...

Who is everyone planning to sell all this crap to? Who can even afford it?!

This seems wholly unsustainable. PlayStation is planning to let digital blacklash blow over, but who really wants to spend nowadays in stuff that costs significantly more and also gives way less value to them?

The whole current gaming, outside of indies, is just jarring. Up for a major shift.

Maybe they should dig another ditch next to the ET game's to bury all this stuff when it fails to sell...

GTA 6 is allowed to be that price imo, heck i'd pay 150+ why? blue moon title, will last the test of time, probably exceeding past next gen easily and for me personally...I don't buy many triple A titles anymore, so I double down on having no problem paying the premium here.

Sorry but if you believe GTA 6 is not going to be anything special, not have a massive impact on the gaming sphere, your a bit delusional.

That's way too much.

There's clearly a disconnect between what the industry perceives gamers to be and what we actually are — just because I bought the newest console, doesn't mean my disposable income STAYS at that level.

Hell, most of us can only afford a couple of new games a year, and have since the NES era.

How could they not know this?

I'm not saying that, but I'd be surprised if it didn't have at least microtransactions, if not a lot of throwaway dlc like vehicles, clothes, weapons to milk the players further Ubisoft style.

And I wouldn't be surprised if GTA Online is paid or at least has a monthly subscription.

Take Two will likely try to monetize GTA 6 to Hell and back.

games like these cost too much to make. if gta 6 fails it might change everything.
and if it doesn't it will be the next big game that took 10 years to make.

Oh yeah that's coming with GTA 6 online for sure, but just like GTA 5 before it, I still enjoyed the game and never bought a single micro-transaction/shark card.

The upper management nowadays seems to think only about their earnings and bonuses. And are willing to throw their customers and, even, investors under the bus. They seem to think a quarter at a time.

If they go the Ubisoft route, they're going to make you grind hard for it.

the death of modern gaming is fully deserved , retro gaming is all we need and its free

The average people will pays for it because it's the "next big thing" and/or the "safest a money can buy (for them)".

All the mentioned can be grouped into categories of "Mainstream Games" or "You-Get-What-You-See", and the people who only bought COD and Sports in their life will only get the same COD and Sports another years.

You don't have to explain what GTA is, what COD is, what FIFA is, they already knew it. But if you were try to recommend anything else, you probably had to make comparison to the closest popular game.

This.

I really, really don't like parting with that much moolah for a console. I had to really gas up my need for a "desktop replacement" level machine for dev pruposes. I was otherwise, console guy for life since I played a Sega mega drive for the fist time in 94.

I like spending money on luxuries, like anyone, but video games were never really seen as a luxury by anyone. Their expense back then was cartridges were very, very expensive. Then after that ther was other excuses for the relative expense. Now it's just greed and the fact that most games that were decent did 5-25 million in sales back in the ps2 era and were way cheaper and quicker to develop for, those days are gone and video game dev costs way more and games sell less on average no compared to the mid 2000's.

Games, movies, TV shows etc. are all going to have to start working with leaner budgets unless they can justifuy the price. I paid €90 for the deluxe edition of stellar blade on release on the ps5. It's one of the reasons I bought a ps5. But I platinumed it and got at least 130 hours out of it. Money well spent.

I also wanted a 4k player too, so two birds one stone.

All in all, I usually don't care too much about this stuff, but even I am being stingy. I am never stingy ::sailor-embarrassed

Until they learn that those games can be taken away at any point in time, their digital accounts can be taken away for many reasons, their digital accounts will become increasingly targeted by hackers as all entertainment people have become digital, digital accounts are becoming increasingly valuable, the online security of those accounts is frequently flawed and challenged by exploits and customer support in general is slow and unreliable.

"Safe" is acquiring a new meaning.

yeah the pricing is getting really out of hand due to the factor of Ai or simple fact greed.

I'm looking forward to see this actually happen. They deserves a fall of whole gaming industry.
