Prefered Genres

My man. Though to be honest, I thought RPGs would be a good library to go through but the amount of time you'll end up wasting is incredible. Generally, I find it's best to go with public opinion on this genre to avoid squandering an incredibly irresponsible amount of time.
its because rpg takes alot of times i like the game
i like rpg games i can play for hours to finnish the game

long rpg games are not for everyone and i understand that

Psychological Horror, Survival Horror, Horror, Horror FPS.
Then Horror RPG's/VN's. For this reason the PS2 is one of my favorite consoles.
A few days ago I played "The Fear" a first person FMV style Japanese PS2 horror game like "D".
The SSD loaded the scenes so quick it was almost a seamless experience. Currently playing RE: Survivor. Then comes Action/Adventure, Fighting and Rhythm games.

I think my tastes are fairly varied, I'll give most things a try. However I generally favour platformers (2D & 3D), Shmups, Racing, JRPGs, SRPGs, Beat em ups, hack & slash, fighting and general action adventure. Also enjoy rhythm and puzzle games from time to time.
on the other end I generally avoid first & third person shooters, open world/sandbox, western style RPGs, RTS and stuff with movie style narratives.

sorry if I wasn't totally dang ol clear, man. I thought RPGs would be a good genre to deep dive because I've enjoyed so many of them. Heck, I even had a good time playing FFXV. My favorite series is Tales of...(vesperia GOATed).

When I'm looking for new games to play, I try other genres first because RPGs are mostly bad overall (as are most genres) and they often take multiple hours before serious problems with the mechanics become clear. When I think about all the time I lost to shitty RPGs I just... dang ol... dang man.

i agree that it can takes hours until a serious problem with the mechanics becomes cleare in the game

i have also wasted alot of time on bad rpgs can not remember how many games i have start playing then just quite playing because it was bad rpg

so now days i always read alot about the rpg game before playing it so i can at least kow what the major problems are in the game

you have a good taste in games tales of vesperia is really a good game in the tales series

Rpg then Horror
Any recommendations? An RPG that blends horror into it's story / gameplay seamlessly, or really well?
- Historical.
- Simulation.
- RTS.
- Zombies.
I like me some Age of Empires, but I only played the 1st and 3rd games, and I'm pretty terrible at those. I also tried Red Alert, but the ones that stuck with me the most were Dune: Battle for Arrakis and Battle Realms.
Battle Realms being me favorite in the genre.
first person shooters, i guess, though nothing veering into realism or military sim. i guess i also like 2D platformers but lean toward stuff with less reliance on bottomless pits. i would say i like stealth games a lot too but that one tends to get me extra picky and critical of a game's systems or what i hold as the standard.
My biggest problem with realism in FPS is the slow pace movement. I got so spoiled by the arcade like nature of Quake 1.
Used to be crazy into ARPG's, but they kinda blow these days, every once in a while you get something cool though.
My go-to's lately are Character Action, Beat-em-up's, and FPS.
Been playing Call of Juarez and F.E.A.R lately, and I did a couple runs of Streets of Rage 4 last week.
My biggest gripes with Character Action gamss is having to grind to unlock all the extra moves, something that isn't an issue with most Beat'em Ups. But my problem with Beat'em Ups is the monotony, they uaually go on for too long for me to really absorb and enjoy what I'm playing. The only ones that I find juat right in length is the 1st Golden Axe and The Simpsons Arcade, except for the last deam level, the visuals and music puts me to sleep.
I will praise F.E.A.R for the physics that fame has, the small details to the environment are really good.

Parasite Eve may be the only one unless you count games like ShineG in The Zombies. I could be dead wrong though as I'm not big into the genre. Perhaps a spinoff of a popular series exists like that but everyone hated it for not being pure. This is all assuming you somehow haven't played RE4 in Anno Domini MMXXV

If you like LotR then try the BAttle for Middle Earth games. They're both abandonware

I've played almost every RTS available, but Warcraft 3 remains my favorite.
