Nar, even Konami used VRC3 mapper for Salamander, still not powerful enough to have 4 options and 2 players need to share them(and that's why Life Force only have 2 options cause no VRC3 mapper for North America)
But Rom hacking might have hope since it changed the mapper to MMC5.. You never know what he can do if he still interest in the project!
Hack for Gradius by Messatu already has 4 options(original only 2) and the graphic all upgraded by using MMC5!

If you don't mind the region version. Salamander(J) is better since it has 3 options(multiples)..
and also there is a Arrangement Chronicle Delta hack by Messatu which is a more near Arcade experience! Very recommend!

Spike please add "Life Force" on the NES collection too!

I think I played this game for the first time through in the Famicom Super 700-in-1 via Emulation.

I had this game on real console when i was a kid!
Mine was in a 7-in-1 compilation!
