Along with the Freedom Planet series, this is another game I thought was going to be bad going in and it turned out to be an excellent and FPS game. Actually bringing something to the table instead of poorly aping Doom 2. I'd even consider it better than Space Marine 1 & 2 in terms of playing as a space marine.

Gravity Circuit, i expected another Mighty Number 9 slop trying and failing to fill the hole Megaman left for years, instead i found a legit fun game that even if i never played Megaman i would loved

Hollow Knight. When I first started playing it I thought it looked like a shitty newgrounds flash game from the early 2000's. I honestly kind of hated the art style. But the game became one of my favourite games of all time and the art style grew on me so much that it inspired me to learn how to draw, something I thought I'd never be able to learn how to do decently, by sketching the characters while I ran CNC machines at my old job. The thick lines and curves and mostly flat shading made it easy to copy the different characters and get better at controlling the pen and everything.

Hmm... I'll say Super Amazing Wagon Adventure. At initial glance you think, "well this is just Oregon Trail but goofy" and that's a fairly accurate summary, but it manages to be funny and difficult, so it's a good time in short bursts. Also there are unlockable wagons to change up the gameplay a little bit if you like. Also I think it's like $3, can't be mad at that.

Euro Truck Simulator 2
I don't know (or give) a shit about either trucks or their simulators, but that game is like therapy man, so unbelievably relaxing and somehow super entertaining.
Still in the super early game as I only play it occasionally, but I don't mind. It's an excellent "podcast" type game.

Vandal Hearts looks very cartoony but the art grew on me though and I ended up enjoying the story somehow.

Drainus is a really cool shmup
Afterimage an Awaken Astral Blade are both solid metroidvanias
And Oceanhorn is a great zelda-like adventure. Not to mention Vampire Survivors and others like it. ::winkfelix

Fallout 1 for PC, i guess the same goes for 2. Play it with the unofficial patches and you'll be fine.

Mark of the Ninja.

I thought it would be some edgy ninja game with gore but it won me over and was one of the most memorable games I played.

Dust an Elysian Tail

I was hesitant due to the furry art but game turned out very memorable too with beautiful settings

Hollow Knight. When I first started playing it I thought it looked like a shitty newgrounds flash game from the early 2000's.
This is the game that ultimately caused HK to exist. Guess where it came from
