Hmm as far as I remember the game is not 1:1 demake. So story itself as in what happened seem to remain but how story unfolds and how it happens and what dialogues are there changed. This demake has developer's humor. For example there is a bug pokemon that says "I'm a bug or a feature" or something, so despite you may disliked the original it's fun to play the demake at least. Fans does what Nintendon't again lolol.

Some madlads actually did this. I'm as genuinely impressed that someone demade Pokemon S&S as I am shocked that there were even enough people who were so passionate about this dumpster fire of a crap game to actually invest all the hours needed to create such a romhack.
Or maybe it didn't need to take nearly as long. Either way, genuine kudos to the teams of people involved in creating this romhack. They deserve a pat on the back and a beer.
Demaking a game is good for practice for video game development + it's a way to take a good idea and twist it to your personal preference. So to this demake's developers if Pokemon Sword had a great potential that cannot be fixed by simple modding then better demake it. By using Pokemon Fire Red and modding it relatively eases Pokemon demake projects especially as years passes knowledge to do it gets richer and richer. And then for some people working on such projects are fun and meaningful than watching Netflix or playing shitty games of today's lol. Sometimes you work on a project for a month but then you fail in a so dead end way your progress is wasted so your idea cannot be possible but still you had the fun + you got wiser for your next project. Either way there is a win here lol.

I can't list how many demakes I wanna develop, especially Persona 5 PS2 demake. And then pixel-art version of 3D games would be so cool. I was tempted to demake Yakuza: Like a Dragon for classic Dragon Quest experience as much as what kind of reality Ichiban living in but too bad I'm not getting younger and I have lots of project I wanna complete before I die between 5-9 job grind. But then legal BS is pain in your bumper anymore (can't even upload a Nintendo game mod, I don't wanna risk it), damn legal mafias lol. So I leave the torch for new generations.

It's because even developers doesn't wanna care about their games because they are no gamer, and then they are too brainwashed by what they think gamers wants now. Their logic can be so BS like "people like Netflix so much let's turn our games like Netflix tv series!!!" -- wow so genius lol. What if I told you I rarely watch anything, like 2 movie a year. I prefer to even play basketball, ain't gonna just watch it!!!
Another thing is Nintendo's wisdom (because they experienced SEGA's fall due to their change) and ignorance (they rely on their cult fans) therefore they have no care to actually release a video game console can compete against new gens and keep up with today's tech. As a result they just spam games by doing lazy work in each new game by adding an illusion of difference between features addition that don't justify playing their every new game.
Perhaps Nintendo's greatest weakness is beliving gamers are necessarily have no sense of quality and gamers are only people between the age 1-4. Can't believe they even turned Pokemon so simple and simple and as far as I know the peak in worst Pokemon is Sword. Nonsense simple game-map, too much cutscene and dialogue, easier gameplay and then no meaningful features added into game (I don't care size of Pokemons, size never matters lol). Can buy and dressup your character in Pokemon Ultra Moon, and also there is a camp system as much as Ultra Moon has. It makes you question what's the point of Sword when you already have Ultra Moon at home.
They make the mistake of believing "we already have a seller formula we shouldn't change" and they think what people want from a Pokemon game is just a theme change like making game have island culture, then UK culture and so on. What about most wanted Pokemon game that's actually like the anime? TPS Pokemon with open world game-map that you can roam around very detailed cities and villages, do side quests and adventures beyond Pokemon fights, have a party to build as travelling companions and et cetera. Pokemon games are fun when you like them, but otherwise who doesn't want anime version of a Pokemon game content-wise? But Nintendo doesn't wanna pay that budget and wanna risk of always have to develop a game like that when they raise the bar so they keep lowering the bar for lazier and stingier work. That's why latest Zelda games are so empty, there is barely a story to begin with and something meaningful to do lol. Without the popular mods like Linkle mod people would barely care about these games lol. And new Pokemon games were that empty too and they all have weird graphics it's not clear what you even looking at. Some empty 3D graphics. It even look worst than 3D games in SEGA Genesis, even worse that pseudo 3D games on NES.
Since Nintendo loves to shut down fan games that are way better than any Nintendo game ever will be, at this point they better release a game with a template and level editor or something so we can easily build our games to befit our wishes, something like Garry's Mod but beyond that. Release "Pokemon tool kit" and sell it for AAA game price so we can develop dream Pokemon game and thus Nintendo would never have to release a Pokemon game ever again. Do it for Zelda and Mario too and make these toolkits easy to use and able to do lots of things. Just sell DLC for toolkit like assets and stuff and make money. Does this fix how the game has a bad straight world map that's filled with boring emptyness, too much cutscene and pointless dialogues that never ends so even after 20 hours gameplay you read a text worthy of whole Harry Potter books but you could only experience like 10 Pokemon battles? If so I'm game only if I can change my character's clothes lol. Otherwise better play Pokemon Ultra Moon, the peak in modern Pokemon games!!!!1 lol
Edit: Tried the game, the game is unfairly hard so welcome yourself for grinding levels even at the very beginning of the game. You'll lose to the annoying Hop and watch him flex while he make Playboy model posture ayy lmao:
Now I wanna mod a PS2 Dragon Ball game to add Hop into the game just to beat him for hours by making him hop into air a lot until he lose hope from even wanna live one more second lolol.
