Happy Pokémon day!
The latest Pokémon Presents stream starts today, in about 15 minutes.
I figured I'd do my best to try and cover the news in this thread and people can join in and discuss if they want to. :)

Here is a link to the stream:

Am at absolute terror. I hope this will be a good announcement. Pokémon streams trigger my fight or flight response.

I assume they're gonna show of that Legends game more, but it's Pokémon Day so it's likely gonna be a bunch of other stuff aswell like TCG and whatever.

If they announce Gen 5 remake I’ll announce my funeral /j

I always think it's funny when they make these cool ass ads for trading cards. It's just a piece of cardboard lol

Pokémon Champions just announced.
Looks like it'll be the next evolution of Pokémon Stadium? Both mega evolutions and terrastalizing were shown off in the trailer.
They want that Showdown crowd

I'm pretty glad they're taking their time with this Legends game.

I didn't play the Archeus one, but I hear good things about it. I loved XY though so I'm kind of more excited for this one because I like the setting so much. I'm a mega evolution defender too so I'm happy about that gimmick returning.
The more real-time battles look pretty interesting too. More real-time and more to keep track of (in a good way I'd imagine).

Aw man, I wish I could still honestly claim to be a Pokemon fan. The nostalgia is real.
Every couple years I try to give Pokemon another shot, but aside from Pokken, I always walk away disappointed.

That's totally fair.
I'm one of those people who enjoy the core aspect of the game so much (catching creatures and battling with them) that I have a pretty high tolerance for a lot of the jank. Probably also helps that I really got into the series at like 16 years old, so I haven't had the chance to become as jaded as some around my age, I think.

I rarely buy the spinoff games, though.

So you can digivolve your pokemon now?
Mega evolution is a gimmick where you can evolve a pokémon further one time during fights, it's kind of like allowing your pokémon to go super saiyan for a bit (though not every pokémon has a mega ebolution). It was the first "mid-battle gimmick" they added in generation 6. Since then they've tried other variants of those gimmicks, but I prefer mega since it's the flashiest.

I can definitely recommend Pokken if you can get a used copy for cheap or something (and if you also happen to have friends around that you can play against) - that game really captured what kid me imagined a Pokemon battle looking like.

I'd imagine going online nowadays (assuming that there's still a community to begin with) would be like casually entering a Third Strike tournament though.

i was expecting at least a teaser of new gen but eh, it was okay i guess
Same here initially, but in a way it feels like a good sign (giga cope I know) that both Legends and whatever they have planned for the next generation will feel less janky and unfinished than SV.

I've played it once or twice back when I lived in a dorm, it's fun! Though it was pretty tough figuring out the controls on a whim when trying a friend's game, but I like the idea of it.

Im never gonna buy a pokemon ever again not when Nintendo are being bunch of twats trying to sue Palworld becuse Nintendo are a bunch of worhless losers that get but hurt some one comes long makes a good fun monster catching game for PC and console.

Nintendo did no need the be such salty twats if they released games on PC so they can burn in hell and I hope the company files for bankruptcy so F Nintendo.

Just when you think you've seen the worst Pokemon Presents, Nintendo goes and proves you wrong every time. This was abysmal.

This was the only cool thing revealed in my opinion, everything else was a snoozefest
Z-A looks like Sword and Shield 2 or even worse, a Scarlet and Violet DLC
I really hope this Champions game is good, otherwise the Switch will be left with not a single good Pokemon game aside for MAYBE Arceus

MAYBE Arceus
I'm curious (because I've never played it), but what would make this game be worse than Arceus if it's a sequel?
The fact that it seemingly only takes place in the city was kinda a bummer, but I didn't care for the world in Arceus either, because it just looked like green fields and boring pseudo feudal-era Japan.

I do kind of agree in general though, but I don't know. I don't really expect anything from these, because they usually just feel like ads, apart from the "one big game" they show off at the end.

>be me in 2015
>be excited for Pokemon Z
>doesn't come out. instead it just skips to gen 7
>fast forward to now
>Pokemon Z comes out

I thought Polyphony Digital were bad for delaying games.

Not a lot of people are complaining about this, I see. Legends ZA looks a lot similar to Scarlet and Vioet in some ways... will they fix the slowdown that said game is known for? We shall see. Late 2025 is a bit of an understatement, but it gives them more time to make the game the best running Switch game, if they can achieve that off.

Pokemon champions reminds me of Puyo Puyo Champions: Spinoff where the goal of it is just the fighting. Similar to Pokémon Showdown but its official. Hopefully showdown doesn't cancel or discontinue due to an official alternative.

The other stuff were meh.

The whole 1 city thing is probably the worst thing they could've come up with, wild zones are also a terrible idea
The way it would be better than Arceus was doing the whole future/present time thing but with the Arceus style, an actual open world Pokemon experience
The art style also sucks, but I'm not even surprised about that anymore
It kind of remains to be seen what they'll do from here but right now it really just looks like another Sword and Shield or a DLC even
