Point and click/VN style games you love and why?

Honestly nowadays companies have so many tools at their disposal to shortcut work that not having things be localized is less and less excusable. Back in the day they had marketing considerations, transport logistics, cart manufacturing/CD pressing and a lot of added on costs - it was risky.

As, is, we've gone so hard on digital (for better and worse, mostly worse) that the risks are really that much smaller, and the reachable audience has never been wider.
Yet money is still leading the way.

Why hiring localisers for a text game that are basically books for a niche audience when you can release a gaas that brings more money or even remaster the popular games?

I'm a big point and click fan, the day I discovered ScummVM was a very good day. My list of favourites:
-Indiana Jones and the Fate of Atlantis
-Broken Age
-Grim Fandango
-the Lost Files of Sherlock Holmes series
-Gabriel Knight 2
-Blade Runner
-Starship Titanic
-Goosebumps: Escape from Horrorland (this is a nightmare to get running on a modern PC, but it slaps)

And honourable mentions to the other games people have already brought up here, like the Nonary Game series, Day of the Tentacle/Maniac Mansion and Myst of course.

First time I heard about Goosebumps: Escape from Horrorland. Reminds me of Shivers. Actually, of all these I only played Grim, but for some strange reason I always play the less known ones first. Definitely gonna give it a go.

easily trace memory that game was so much fun back in the day
