For me if this state of play's highlight is Wolverine, gaming is over.
You've seen the trailer, right? The longer more recent one? This is to x-men, specifically wolverine, as the insomniac spider man game was to spider man fans. It's also an unprecedented, unapologetically M rated wolverine game from the x men universe from the perspective of Logan. He is the most popular X man and it would be a no brainer to have him be the main character of this first of big flagship x men games. Insomniacs spider man is considered on par with Batman: Arkham City in terms of applying the character to the medium of video games. The second game sucks, we all know this but insomniac was apparently punished for that by Sony, based on rumours.

It's Sony's big exclusive for the year, and it's out in September, so this will be the focus of the state of play in June, there's always a main focus on whatever is next in a state of play, and often it is the only game in that state of play, but this time it is directly stated that wolverine is a focus and not the focus, there's likely going to be other announcements. There's also Tokon, but sony know this will do well, but very slowly as fighting game fans tend to be very picky and that's a slow burner, whereas wolverine should clean house so long as it's not full of spider-man 2isms to murder its sales potential with word of mouth.

I, for one, am extremely hyped for wolverine as it will be the first polished game about comic book wolverine since x men legends 2. I know everyone loves wolverine origins on the ps3/xbox 360 but like deadpool, it's a fun, but very shallow game with combat that feels very flimsy and doesn't hold up once the novelty of the character has worn off.

Also I'm pretty sure there's going to be announcements of some kind as the June state of play is a stand it for what would have been the E3 slate of game announcements.

After the leak awhile back, and the way Insomniac has been out-right hiding Jean Grey in the previews, my enthusiasm for Wolverine is pretty damned low. Sony has no other exclusives I'm interested in. Which sucks as I've supported Playstation since 1995.

PlayStation won't get the attention it needs from the presentation.

Intergalatic, Fairgame$ and Horizon Hunters Gathering are deeply unpopular and PlayStation won't change course on them apparently.

Marathon is flopping and doesn't have much popular interest.

Wolverine and Tokon are the only things PlayStation have managed to conjure popular interest in. But the superhero fad is largely gone and Wolverine seems, apart of the extreme violence, to be, like Spiderman 2, sanitized in its content.

The probable Uncharted: Drake's Fortune remake is the best thing PlayStation has coming in the pipeline as far as we know, but, after all this gen's PS first party shittery, there isn't much confidence in Naughty Dog's ability to deliver a title that will live up to fan's expectations or surpass them. It will be a technological showcase, but will it be faithful to the original and won't censure and insert some progressivism into it somewhere?

I mean all consoles needs a major performance. The Switch 2 catalog has been lackluster even for the more die hard fans, Xbox is... well just dead, the people hyping it are just falling for the oldest corpo tricks in the book; and as for Sony they are still suffering from the catastrophic previous leadership.

I have faith in the new direction, but it will take a while before it gets good, too many poisoned products on the oven. I have 0 faith on Wolverine or the Horizon whatever. Marathon failed the mark spectacularly.

But I have hope they will pick up the pace again, and not only Sony, Nintendo too or even Sega that has been doing moves recently as more of a bigger company again.

Lets ignite this console war so everyone gives their best and we have another new classic era like 5th or 6th gen!

I just want to see more of Project Robot.
