PocketRGB-EN - A Full Red, Green, and Blue Translation of the Original Pocket Monsters Source: https://www.pokecommunity.com/threa...ation-of-the-original-pocket-monsters.492958/ Translation > Localization pocketrgb-en is a Gen 1 disassembly, based on the Japanese releases titled 'Pocket Monsters' shortened to Pokémon. The goal was to create the best 1 to 1 translation of the Japanese games that I could manage since none exist to date! Many have made "Uncensored" or what I like to consider improved "Localization's" where they restore the dialog mostly and really good ones like pokejp (the base pocketrgb-en is forked from) will also restore 99% of the visual elements except the Japanese version of […]

I'm currently at the middle of Pocket Monsters Green using this translation patch and its good overall! It's the closest thing that a non-japanese speaker can get from having the original 1996 experience that japanese kids had in that year.

The only suggestion I could make is that they should use a thinner font for pokemon names, since most of then are too big to fit in some menus. Also, "iai cut" (the japanese name for the CUT move) kinda leaks out everytime it appears on menus.

But besides that, it is a great translation patch.

when being a weeb goes too far
How the hell is making a rom hack going too far? It's for history and preservation rather than replacement. Honestly I'm tired of the whole "norms vs weebs" thing that goes on a lot with anime and video games. You have your preferences and there's no reason to whine about everyone else.

The creator of that hack used an unfinished version of a romhack I'm working on as a base, it is not bad perse but I'm not fan of the changes he did because he reverted changes I did for the ones montblanc did (Which are wrongly translated)

I suggest to check my project instead:
(I managed to add more stuff that pocket-rgb doesn't)

I notice it says that this hack fixes a lot of bugs, I wonder if any of the useful/interesting glitches/exploits exclusive to the Japanese versions were patched or if it was just stuff that was non functional code (IE: Focus Energy doing nothing in US Gen 1) . That's something I'd like to see, a translation patch that strictly translates just the text (and relevant graphics) of the Japanese versions of Pokemon Red and Green to English.

EDIT: Either way this looks cool and I will still give it a play either way!

but is the story different enough to justify losing 10 hours tho?
No, if you check out Shesez's video, you'll find that there's no game-changing differences. This is just for if you wanted to play the game again anyway and want something somewhat fresh.

Noice! Can you catch all Pokemon without trading in these versions?

Edit: Sorry about the double post.
Skimmed through the changelog on the Pokecommunity link and sadly it appears that you still need to trade with over versions to complete the Pokedex.

I'm sure you can find an emulator with Link Cable functionality that will allow trades.

Can you upload the Japanese translation for Gen 5? I tried patching it but I never could... they asked for strange methods.

Ah, well, this is perfect! I was just thinking about replaying Generation 1 again. Last time I played it was through the Pokemon Green in English MOD for Pokemon Blue... which just used the English script but modified the Pokemon sprites and restored the original layout for Cerulean Cave. It didn't really feel like a proper "retranslation".

May as well grab this hack so I can learn some of the JP names for my favorite Gen 1 Pokemon.

This is cool, and especially for anyone who wants to play it this way but man, this is such a weeb thing to do LOL
The problem is that I always played and watched the English versions of Pokemon so all this stuff is completely lost on me. It won't make me replay the games it'll just frustrate me because I don't know the names of the Pokemon/moves in Japanese.
It's kinda why I never was able to watch Pokemon in sub. The only reason I watch Horizons in sub is because its always lightyears ahead of the dub and someone replaces the JP names with English ones.

Either way though, I respect that someone was able to do this and I hope y'all enjoy it who want to play it. Maybe I might try it out because why not, I just know I'm gonna get frustrated as I'm too used to English names
I too have only ever watched the anime dubbed. I'm considering watching the original JP version, but I can tell that it's going to take a while for me to get used to the Japanese names for characters, towns, and the titular Pocket Monsters themselves.

Good English translations of both games coming from Generation 1 of Pocket Monsters 🔴🟢🔵 which are equally good and thank you for sharing the English translation versions of both the Normal version and the Deluxe version.

Big stuff, man!
Also the link to the non-DX Blue is giving me problems.
