PlayStation is deleting 551 purchased movies from its customers' accounts, reminding us nothing digital is ever truly ours

You all know what is the best way...

Just saying Piracy is always a service Issue not that I endorse it of course.

I bought a tonne of indie games on Xbox back in the day which are gone forever. Always buy the discs or cartridges that includes for movies and shows too. The psychical media is something they cannot alter or take back like they do with the digital copies.

The most I do is rent (and only because it's cheaper) :loldog
I mean, I used to rent videos from stores sure but that was before the internet or when hard drives were too small to store more than like one movie and it took 3 days just to download it.

the licesing is such a excuse bs and should be illegal of how they doing something like this to customer tend buy on digital platforms. im glad i dont buy the movies on thier stores.

Don't worry, fellas, this mean we'll be getting another Concord, PS+ getting price increase (yet again), and of course future physical game will have DRM check to make sure you insert the disc while online at least once.

I hope you're ready for the F U T U R E
Until they find a way to legally brick consoles, you mean.

I hope it doesn't come to that, but it is the natural end point of unmitigated greed.
yeah too much greed in that end. i still want be positive in my own mind, people need speak out out loud in constructive words to real boycoting these practices

There are movies whose quality I underestimate enough not to waste data downloading them (and there are movies that I can't find anywhere other than digital stores), so I think it's worth paying for a rental in those cases.

Weigh anchor, hoist the sails
Cruisin' for booty on watery trails
No exploiter we see can still sail on
Our cannons fire till his ship goes down...

I highly doubt any movies exist in digital stores that aren't pretty easily findable on a torrent site or one of those random sketchy pirate streaming sites. If it's in a digital store somewhere someone has definitely ripped it and shared it. The ones not easily findable are the ones still stuck on VHS and formats like that.

You might be skeptical when it comes to English-speaking users looking for English-language movies, but what about when user doesn't speak the language?

Dubbed or subtitled versions of English-language movies don't have the same availability (and .srt files don't always sync with audio), so if the only places I can find what I want without much difficulty are digital stores, I rent it without a second thought.

That's a fair point but also if it exists on the internet, it's possible to get it for free. But to be fair, sometimes I get more invested in crawling through random corners of the internet looking for something than I do the actual content so maybe it's more like piracy is just kind of a hobby for me.

Thanks. I recognize the importance of owning a product today, but if I can't consume that product properly under these conditions, sadly ownership becomes secondary.
