pico8 emulation

anyone know how to emulate pico8 , i only found the emulator with the same name but is under paywall and was thinking if free alternatives exist , thanks

I know that RetroArch has a core for it. There are other alternatives which you can find here:

Huh, looks like it does. Only downloads are paywalled it seems.

Actually most of the games are easily downloaded without the paywall, the games are encoded inside a .png file.

To prove my point I can share an extraction me and a friend did: https://extermist.neocities.org/app/A/
If you view the html there's a 00.png linked to it, changing that to a different .png changes the game loaded, however I don't have other games uploaded on it.

Basically it's the stand alone player that runs on browsers, unfortunately I wasn't able to make it playable on android.. couldn't get the mobile on screen controls on it..

Now I don't know what file extensions an emulator would need, but as far as getting the games themselves that's the easiest way I found.

Pico-8 on RetroArch can be a hit and miss.

I ended up using PicPic to run pico8 games on my phone. I tried to run pico8 on retroarch but that didn't work for me.

also if playable on web would liked have them on emulator on my external drive , but if retroarch core not that good in compatibility seems have no other choice , atm cannot buy that emulator even if is low priced sadly

Pico-8 on RetroArch can be a hit and miss.

I think anything on a multicore emulator is a hit or miss, especially with the leaps and bounds more dedicated emulators are having for almost every system imaginable. Although, I have RetroArch on WiiU, which is the only way to play Arcade games on there, so I assume the idea is that multicore emulators can have better compatibility with certain hardware that dedicated ones cannot?
