Physical ownership killed? Virtual Game Cards - Nintendo DRM "solution" to lend a game

Wasnt it just a way to move didigtal games to anohter console?
Regardless when private ownership is eventually killed for good I'll just do what I've always done: Steal a car

It could always be a prototype to move into digital-only and eventually, subscription based instead of ownership.

But we don't know that for sure. Could be anything. Could be a boat.

people will just make the Switch 2 piracy with things like this

With @moonbits on this one. A solution for digital sharing.
Kinda makes sense and, in some ways, might actually lead to more sales;
I think it's more-or-less to dissuade piracy as opposed to a more heavy-handed/anti-consumer approach.

Plus they've already said that the Switch 2 will play Switch carts, so it has a cart reader on board already.

Edit: Seen a few posts comparing to steam's family share thing. It strikes me asa Nintendo-silly version of such.
Yes, I really don't get why people are upset about this, this has nothing to do with killing "ownership", as matter of fact that died years ago, you don't "own" your physical switch games, most of them don't even have all content on the cart or require a system update to launch, same goes for all modern consoles really and basically all digital stores.

We will have to see. It’s certainly a step towards a digital dystopia, but as it’s not been implemented yet, I feel like I can’t judge.

My biggest issue is that the lending, which I’m okay with the two week thing, isn’t for all players. They act like it’s just as easy as with physical games when… no? With physical games, I can lend them to anybody, regardless of who they are. Here, they need to be part of my Nintendo Switch family.

It’s DRM. We as a collective all agree that DRM bad. I appreciate the move to being more flexible with digital games, but I see no reason to not still prioritize getting physical versions of the titles I truly want to OWN, because this doesn’t solve the core issue with digital, being that it’s simply a license that you’re buying which can be revoked at any time. If it was true ownership, much of the “digital debate” wouldn’t exist.

If forced to keep it brief: it’s a business decision by modern, post Switch Nintendo. They won’t give you a deal, they want to own your entire gaming world, and that’s how they’ve been moving for the last decade. Don’t be shocked if this sucks.

And even old PC games had DRMs like Starforce/GameSpy/GFWL and CD keys.

In fact since the PS360 days many games were linked to you gamer account.

It's still much better than games being stuck on one account imo. I'd still buy cartridges over digital myself. I've bought Cadance of Hyrule twice, once digitally then physically with all DLCs included in.

It’s expensive to do that, but I’ve done that a couple times! I tend to double dip on the most important of games to me.

I tend to buy indies in sales but only in sales lately.

Maybe someday I'll get Sonic Mania for -75% just so I don't have to have the cartridge inside.

Did anyone get a hands on impression of how Game Key Cards work?
