Wai Xing Zhan Shi (also written as Waixing Zhanshi) is Phantasy Star IV recreated on NES.

I have a personal collection of Sega games for NES including bootlegs and hacks but it doesn't include Phantasy Star IV. It does have a bootleg of Phantasy Star II that i can't find anywhere else.

The Spriter's Database ripped a bunch of sprite tiles from it.

Then there's Meng Huan Zhi Xing which is Phantasy Star for GB or claims to be anyway.

A very fascinating find, never knew there was a Chinese bootleg for Phantasy Star IV but it definitely looks like a ride to play knowing how these versions be (like the FF VII NES Demake for one lol).

I'm scared of Chinese bootleg game developers. They may even have developed my game that I try to eat Nacho Cheese Doritos while avoiding enemy attacks but if I skip eating a Doritos even one second I die, and the game's name would be "qī wū jiǔ líng qī líng líng duō lì duō zī kuáng cháo" (qw90700多力多滋狂潮 -> qw90700 Doritos Rush) lolol.

I played through this whole game and it's surprisingly competent for what it is. Some versions of the ROM crash in certain places or have weird glitches. The one called Wai Xing Zhan Shi 2 seems to be the most stable. I want to try that GB game soon.

I did a whole walkthrough (the best I could without any knowledge of Chinese) and some videos and images: https://www.angelfire.com/journal2/synapse/videogames/ps4nes.html

I don't know if every page is working because Angelfire has been borked for years and I really should move this to Neocities some time this epoch.

The video links have all the cutscenes plus some extras showing off glitches and a few codes I made to screw with the game. The video links should work just fine because I haven't deleted any videos.
