Its popularity among casual gamers generally rests on the “scary/hardcore” reputation of the previous games. “Oh, you play Persona? You must be a hardcore gamer.” And no one will say, “Dude, I just want to ask that hot teacher/nurse/schoolgirl out on a date!11” And while diehard SMT/Persona fans may view the constant re-re-re-releases of the last three Persona installments negatively, casual gamers enjoy being part of this hardcore subculture.
