Haha a bit of jank comes with the territory. Something like Body Harvest is janky by today's standards, but it still blazed a trail. Its a great game, just might control horribly these days cuz of that whole time period.

sadgeWell, that's interesting... I'd love to read more about that!
Unfortunately, I'm so broke that I don't even have a PC, so that's also not an option. Thanks, though!
Man, Body Harvest is an excellent game as well. Really ambitious for the system I think.Haha a bit of jank comes with the territory. Something like Body Harvest is janky by today's standards, but it still blazed a trail.
Stolen code? I'm confused about that. There is the PC port someone made. but it was made with stolen code so idk what your opinions are on that.
I kinda disagree because despite the one stick control (well, the c-arrows are still there as a second control method) Rareware understood that they couldn't have made a simple Quake-like (like Turok) so they made the game slow enough to be able to aim well and that there's no proper jump mechanic. Its a great game, just might control horribly these days cuz of that whole time period.
She's talking about Jet Force Gemini, not Perfect Dark.I kinda disagree because despite the one stick control (well, the c-arrows are still there as a second control method) Rareware understood that they couldn't have made a simple Quake-like (like Turok) so they made the game slow enough to be able to aim well and that there's no proper jump mechanic.
Of course the XBLA and PC versions are much better.
Oops. She's talking about Jet Force Gemini, not Perfect Dark.
Wasn't it made with the legit source code? From that big N leak a few years back? Idk I don't remember.Stolen code? I'm confused about that.

I understood that Goldeneye was the most popular because it was the first of its kind and because you needed the Expansion Kit to play in solo (and because in 2000 the Dreamcast was already out and the PS2 was about to come so a N64 looked obsolete despite the quality of the late games) but I think that Perfect Dark is legitimately better in almost every way.
Especially because of the more complex designs, actual knock down mechanic (so you can basically kill nobody in a mission and it adds more complexity as in "don't kill that NPC"), having an alt fire for every guns (even if some are useless), better gun variety (Goldeneye has too many machineguns imo) and a story that fits better a videogame than Goldeneye loosely following the movie's plot with some changes and added element (even if it's a bit of a cheesy sci-fi story from the 90's).
I think Goldeneye is easier and more accessible to play than Perfect Dark with more complex objectives and bigger levels.
Honestly if it was really using illegal code this would've been shut down already.Wasn't it made with the legit source code? From that big N leak a few years back? Idk I don't remember.
I looked it up today. It's a decomp not made from real source code. I was trippin lol. It's been a while since I checked on it. It's really the best way outside of the XBLA version to play it.Honestly if it was really using illegal code this would've been shut down already.
Yeah, it's not perfect, but I'll take not having to use the abortion called the N64 controller and having a frame rate above 15 fps any day.XBLA is better control wise but let's be honest:
The redesigns are most of the time awful. Elvis looks like a scary zombie in it.
I prefer the XBLA look. I'm speaking heresy of course but the og models are some of the ugliest models in gaming. Sorry, not sorry. Good for the time, horrible today.XBLA is better control wise but let's be honest:

It's not that big of a deal to hold the middle and right parts.Yeah, it's not perfect, but I'll take not having to use the abortion called the N64 controller and having a frame rate above 15 fps any day.
Oh, I know how to use an N64 controller, I've been playing it since it came out, I just don't like it. x) I will concede that it's better with FPS games than other genres though. It's not that big of a deal to hold the middle and right parts.
Okay, the c-arrows aren't idea for strafing but that's why there are more than one option for controls.
Mmmm, I was being a bit unfair, but it's frame rate isn't as good as you remember it being.15 FPS? The framerate is much more stable than Goldeneye and to be honest it only dips when there are explosions.
