People who put their newest videos or livestreams on YouTube behind a paywall deserve to have their channels revoked.

I see the problem in new generation people sense of greed. Back then there was a common sense for doing something good for people for the good for the people, so thus Youtube was a place for you contribute to society. Of course I'll exclude indie animators and movie makers for what they do need budget so if you like it and wanna support it and wanna see more of it it's nice to donate them, but then the greedy kids instead of finding a job wanna make money from where they lie down. In that context despite for law an activity make you have an income can be considered a job I won't think any activity that really society doesn't need as a job. Society can continue without your rubbish lets' pay videos you ask money to watch them. Perhaps we can talk about how valuable information can be, like teaching people how to translate video games but asking money for that is a dick move.

Around I even start to see people sell patches they developed for certain video games. I get that you do hard work and wanna get paid for it but it's extra dick move that your patch is the only way to make a game playable okay but you sell that shit. Not to mention people started to sell mods too. Unless the mod is big shit that is like completely a new game my brain can't justify your rubbish model and texture swap mods being sold lol. Even pirates want money these days, "do you know how costy to manage my pirate serves to break the laws?" they say and I say "I shit on your head bitch", and I really can live my life without pirating games and without playing games, you ain't doing some hot shit. Get a job or find a better job or have multiple job lol.

New generation sense of "making money" is funny though. Imagine some women sell their half-naked pics on Only Fans that you can get the same content in Miami Beach or something ayy lmao. And IDK there are endless visual material for nude people so what is special in you? But of course some people feel good just to spend money to spend money so they need an excuse to spend it, but they are not really "sure win" way to lean on to make a living.

Long story short I'm against the idea for "whatever I do I deserve to be paid" mentality. Just because you get paid for what you do I don't care if you call it a job or you justify making money thus. You can always make money without being stupid or a dick, it's especially cringe when whatever you do is not really a big deal lol.

I'm sick of YouTube content creators charging for everything. I get that it's a job and it's better than most other options, but nothing is worse than wanting to watch a video or a livestream of a person you are subscribed to and not being able to because you aren't a paid member. I am not paying with my money to be a member of anything. There's too many channels i'm subscribed to. It's fucking ridiculous. On top of that people in their chats constantly give them large sums of cash for free. I'm talking hundreds of dollars sometimes. It's insane. They sure as hell don't need my money if they can just get it for free from psycho fans.
I have literally never experienced anything like that. I watch Youtube from time to time. Maybe I spend like 20-30 minutes a day in different videos I watch for work information or leisure and I have never seen any ads.

Do you know what's uBlock? I use uBlock because I don't want to see any ads and I also have another extension to control Youtube's interface, basically to block Shorts, select the thumbnail size, block all live videos and comments of any type and remove recommendations. If I am in Youtube I want to watch the videos I want, period.

For me Youtube is not a platform to spend "the day", is mainly a source of information full of reviews, tutorials, unboxings and other interesting info you can't experience by just reading or seeing a few pictures.

People who say its not a "real job" or content creation is just lazy way to make money either watch slop channels with 10 uploads a day that don't provide any value or never created anything in their lives, only consumed. I think when you say that something is lazy and not worth anything you need to specify what kind of content you mean exactly, because you know, most channels are unique and every case is different.

Ads? The OP didn't really talked about it for the topic is the locked content behind a paywall so did you quote the wrong post? Regardless some videos have ads in itself that addons and whatnot can't prevent them so you have to skip the video when you see one lol.

There was actually a Youtuber I followed that talking BS for like 10 minutes and when you try to figure out "what the fuck he talking about" you realize he try to "subtly" bomb the video with a sudden ad by trying to seem like he talking about the purpose of the video, which is why I don't watch that guys' videos anymore. In fact these ads BS is why I unsubscribed all of the YouTubers I used to follow when there were really like 4 of them I cared to follow, not anymore lol. If you will be a bitch of a company to advertize their BS just to make a living this is a big ass warning that you gotta find a job, or find a better job or find multiple jobs instead of being a clown bitch lol.

That's a bit extreme, isn't it?

YouTube is infamous for killing people's income left and right for seemingly no reason at all, often after the fact. Withholding pay from essentially a full-time job that requires massive investments to even compete against literally billions of others would absolutely left you scrambling for ways to patch those wounds.

You know how many YouTubers have Patrons? That's not because they feel like working extra on stuff and have to come up with perks and rewards (which overstretch them even thinner), but because they need a "shield" or "net" against demonization.

Check this out... It's still true:

well that and it was because anyone with a camera can post a video online, it didn't have to be just tv stars and movies stars anymore. Anyone could make a video about anything. You could direct your own short film and get people to actually see it or you could just make prank videos. lol The sky was the limit. That's why cat videos exploded into popularity. That and because they were cute and funny.

yeah i made sure to unsubscribe from any YT channel that has "members only" videos
imo there is absolutely nothing on YT worth paying for.
if you want money get a real job and earn it!
creating content is a hobby, not a career.
and making YouTube your career can also cause burnout. You no longer love doing the thing you love. Just look at Max Dood. He almost gave up making videos about fighting games from burnout.

I respect those Youtubers that instead merely ask for Patreon donations or Super Thanks, it's optional and you feel like tipping someone instead of being forced to pay for basic crap

I've never really given this much thought honestly. The idea of playing for Youtube video's has never once crossed my mind given how much free content is still on the platform. If something's paywalled, I'll simply move on.

I meant I never experienced any kind of paywalls or other crap in Youtube, I don't know what kind of videos I would have to watch to see them. Thanks to using Youtube in my PC only I have never seen any add since years ago, no matter what technique Youtube uses for embedding them I just don't see any, and I use my free account.

I also don't follow anyone, I tend to block anything related to social network in a website that for me is meant to host videos to be watched, and that's it. Although I am curious about those issues lol.

Paywalls are done in many ways:

- Youtube membership BS. Youtuber sets certain videos only for members, so when you like their content but you see most of their videos are actually only for members only it can be a turn off. These videos are like this:

I'm no expert of Youtube for I really don't use Youtube much outside of my uploads, some meme videos and what buddies and friends send me, but I pretty sure member-only videos are probably doesn't show up when you search, they are only visible on the homepage of channels.

- However classic paywall is "yo if you wanna watch the rest of the video here is my website, pay me money to unlock membership and watch my content".

- Since having a website may be bothersome people use Patreon anymore. On their free videos they mention this amazing paid video lol. A method is making streams free on Youtube, Twitch, Discord, et cetera but uploading these videos as paid content later on.

As for ad, as I said an ad can be literally part of the video that the Youtuber talks about the product they advertize and Youtuber themself make the ad video part of their video. Nothing can prevent it lol.

This membership only videos and the videos that have such "part of the video ad" may be country specific too, which I mean in whatever country you are from the Youtubers may don't have such videos but especially around the world these shit got so popular some once free videos I saved turned into membership only ones lol.

Ohh, the video says is no longer available lol.

Ahh, gotcha, the promotions inside the videos are part of the video yeah. I skip that part when I see it, that's the only I can do.

Well, then if I never experienced a paywall in Youtube it means I am using it the way it was meant to be used lol.

I dislike that Youtube will promote pay-walled content that I can't watch. When I go into a channel, and there is a lot of content only for members, I just don't subscribe cause I don't want those videos in my recommendations.

I don’t think I’ve ever encountered a paywalls video on Youtube ever.

I can see both sides as well. We live in a world where a lot of information is free,
and while content creation can start as a hobby. It's very possible to make it a primary source of income. If the content is educational and helps teach a skill, or provides me entertainment, I'll throw a sub here and there to show support. But if it's just a personality that doesn't provide any substance I'm already checked out.

As a trainer I share a lot of stuff with people for no cost, but if anyone wants to go deeper into my bag of tricks that's where I'll ask for compensation. As an independent contractor one quote has stuck with me over the years.

"If you're good at something, never do it for free"
