A rerelease/remaster of Patapon 1+2 came out on pc and consoles the other day. These always looked interesting to me but I never got around to play the originals. A bit pricey at $30 imho but I caved in and bought this anyway. Seems very fun so far.
What are your thoughts on this? Rereleases and remasters can be awful cashgrabs but reviving games stuck on old and obsolete systems on pc is always welcome in my opinion.

I will be sticking with the PSP releases of Patapon in an emulator, because I can share my savedata between my PSP, PS Vita and PC.

I wonder why they forgot about Patapon 3? (NB. the definitive way to play Patapon 3 is the DxD mod v1.1.4 (merges Depths of Infinity + Dark Covenant mods, removes anticheat/savefile infection and merges in all DLC and adds content. I believe it has better XP rates than the grindy base game, too)

I've played the number 3 on psp and it was fun (frustrating in one stage, but somehow I overcame it!); since you've never played it on psp and you're curious, I think you spent those 30 well, it is a nice price considering you have two games with quality-of-life features comparing with the originals. Of course, they will be well spent for sure only if you enjoy it, but from your comment it seems you like your purchase :)

Patapon 2 is probably one of my all time favourite games but how is the input lag on console? I tried playing it on ps4 and just couldn't ever get the timing to work.

It could be that they're planning a second release to milk a few more pennies out of this.
There's also apparently game called Ratatan coming out. Could be they're planning something to coincide with that.

Yeah I haven't regretted my purchase yet. 30 bucks is not the end of the world but anything more and I would have definitely waited for a sale.

There's some people complaining about it but I'd imagine it has a lot more to do with your tv and controller setup than it does with the game itself. I for one have not noticed anything wrong with it on steam deck or pc using a ds4 controller and a "gaming" monitor. There is also a delay adjustment in the menu that you can play around with if you feel like it.
The devs have acknowlegded these complaints so I'm sure they are looking into it.

Taiko and diva games just make you click a button to a beat to sync up your setup. There probably should be something like that for this too.

I used to play Patapon re-released on my PS4 Years ago, it was unplayable as there was a delay between the audio track and the desired input....
Which was fixed by using PSVR, that somehow removed the input delay.
I would like to explain it away as my TV somehow having a massive amount of lag, but I never had similar issues with any other game running on my Playstation. So it was just the result on botched programming.

I'm not touching the Steam/PC Port lol

Completely forgot about this coming out. I wonder if they've fixed the input lag, I've wanted to properly play Patapon for a long time now, but I could never get the small delay to go away on PPSSPP and it really ruined it for me. But I'm still happy Patapon isn't dead anymore, also because of Ratatan too. :>

Is there lag? Emulators tend to add some input lag to games, but this is not running on an emulator and I have not really felt anything wrong with the inputs.
Again, there's some complaints about it but there are so many variables that contribute to the perceived lag in different setups that it's no wonder. Not necessarily the fault of the game but they of course could have made some simple calibration utility into the game. Also just merely being told that "you might have input lag" is probably enough to drive some people up the wall and just imagine some delay even if there is none.
