another instance was exdeath's castle

the whole castle interior just turned into fuckin skeletons and corpses and there were so many paths to take and to the kid me back then, it was too much, and i never really got past it on the PS1 (i finished it few years later on the VBA though)
I imagine it be kinda creepy you are just walking down a hallway and some book decides to jump off a shelf and reveal a demon.... Not the best reading experince really

RE has all of them, what are you saying lol 😂
RE1? What jump scares in this game?

All first 3 RE games have no immense darkness in fact that something silent hill would do and would perfect.

I think he talk about when they break train windows and jump in.
In fact everytime you see a dog in re series it mean a jump scare.

XD then i missed that its supposed to be a jump scare RE1 didnt scare me at all and for that i say its a failure from my POV as a horror game

I don't know if it was just me but the Caves from PSO had some horror vibes (especially on the Dreamcast) and with the lore around them.

Kirby games in general but I think many knows about them now:

Forever Forest in Paper Mario 64 creeped me out when I was younger. That place was the whole reason I never finished it when I was younger.

While many got creeped by it, i actually saw the Lavander town theme as a banger, Pokemon Tower itself was were i turned off my GBC and never touched for a week (The Ghost design was...brrr and the music somehow made the town's theme sound relaxing, as if the tower itself were crying and wailing)

Someone I know was mentioning that they have this fear of big machines, thanks to an enemy in Phantasy Star Online, Garanz, found in the Mines (the second area). I do recall that I get freaked out in the Mines as well, I really hate this area as a whole, that even in the replica of that area in other Phantasy Star games, I get really uncomfortable. Last time I played it, my two beagles (who never reacted to any game I've played before or since) were howling and crying, so I never played the original again, but oooh boy, PSP2.
Anyway
Is there any part of a non-horror game that isn't necessarily a horror level (ie: graveyard or haunted place) that makes you uncomfortable or afraid? Why?

In Princess Tomato in Salad Kingdom, when I was a child, several parts scared me half to death, to the point of having to run crying out of the room.

Those parts are the jail level, the forest maze, and the monsters in the basement. Always scared me until I got old enough to handle it, but I got through them as a kid (with some parental help) and now it doesn't freak me out as bad.

But man. A kid's game about vegetables scared me. 😂

The Pokemon Moon entry for Vanillish. One of the scariest entries that isn't from a Ghost or Dark type

Speaking of, never toss your plushies if you don't want this thing looking for you

Metroid 2 on the gameboy .

2 things :

1. When you search for the metroids while the bleeps and bloops, as we call a "Soundtrack" , is already a bit off-putting while you suddenly found one . First comes temporary panic , then try to kill it with missles with pressure while losing chunks of Health and defeating it with half or almost no health at the end .

2. The last area before you face the metroid queen is so atmossphericly oppressive , im always on the edge and the soundtrack just delivers it way too perfectly . Especially the room with the egg which the metroid-counter goes suddenly up with that horrifying sound-effect and that very creepy soundtrack that still goes through my bones when i think about it .

Original Metroid 2 is an actual horror game and nobody can change my statement . Even Metroid Dread aint that scary and is rather bland .

That part in Chrono Cross where Serge sees his own grave in Another world. My first time playing I had no idea what was going on at all and it just freaked me out. The Dead Sea and the appearance of the Terra Tower just made me feel sad. It might be one of the reasons I got so into the mind bending and denpa genres of films and games.

probably, the witcher 3 and baldur gate 3. whenever i’m on a plane, i get goosebumps that someone’s peeking at my steamdeck, because, well, there are some adult scenes in those games
especially in baldur gate 3 i used curvy mod and 18++ mod that make things more awkward

Not a specific example, but whenever I have to deal with spiders in a non-horror game. It's never enough to turn me off or anything, but it always creeps me out a bit.

I was just gonna say the big-ass spider in animal crossing wild world

(does that thing actually exist? the memory is very blurry and surreal and I don't think I encountered that thing more than once)

The last section of Earthbound (Mother 2). I think it's self-explanatory.
Threed got me the worst. The music and all the zombies... Man... There were just so many malevolent things in that one space inside a game that seemed like a goofy, comedic romp starring children.

Then you solve the problem and the music gets so pleasant. What a game.
